Why PCFormat SA is being shut down

I bought the latest NAG, I actually had to look twice to make sure it was a NAG magazine. :D

Apparently every year for the magazine's birthday they like to change things.

Same here, i though where the hell is the rest of the magazine....
It has to be for cost saving, but fark, the NAG was always a premium quality magazine, now its a thin low cost magazine with a Premium price.

Price kills most magazines not the internet
A few local versions of international titles have closed. The price boost was definitely a killer, but it was about the same time I discovered TPB/books ;-)

Gap in the market for MyBB to bring out feature articles ... ?

I used to buy PC Format religiously when Mars Mlodzinski was still with them. I still had stacks of PCFs until not to long ago - had to get rid of it because I had no space for it :(

RIP PC Format SA
RIP Mars's favorites/funny's folder on CD (Budweiser ads etc)
RIP hours of fun playing demo games (Giants: Citizen Kabuto; Clive Barker's Undying; Max Payne etc)
RIP Cameron Losco's section.

Reminds me of the JHB PCF Forum meet we had at my house, back in the day, was an epic day watching the Durban okes, moaning it was so cold, while the JHB okes kept on taking off clothes, DAE's hot girl friend, the most stunning eyes ever. The free PCF hampers we got from cameron, had a nice long technical chat with him.

Thought killerbyte wasn't there he probably ran out of petrol again and bought ice cream instead. The forum is still there, but dying a slow death.

PC Format was always something interesting to buy. A magazine that focused on Hardware, Software and Games.
The earlier editions really were packed with helpful hints, tips and best was the Full Free Software. Over the years the Free Full Retail Software has run dry, although they picked up Open Source (Linux) Distros where some magazines costed R199 for the same amount, PCF was a mere R45 for A few distros a month. That was great for some one who doesnt have uncapped and could waste it away collecting OS's.

I have never subscribed. Reason for this, one issue would be really great, then next four, not so great.

Heres to you PC Format:

It appears that any special interest magazine in SA is no longer viable and is dying off due to poor sales.
I presume this to be in line with the size of the population who can actually understand these things, declining.

I bought the final 'Game Over' magazine just last week, was sad for a bit, then remembered why I actually stopped buying it.
