On the strength of its new $10 Raspberry Pi Zero W, it's hard not to look at the Pi and see the technology industry's next wave.

Thought provoking article particularly:

The Pi is the flagbearer for this trend, which is seeing more and more users settle for low-cost devices that can serve their needs quite adequately. We see it in very capable smartphones like the OnePlus 3 and the Honor 6X. We see it in students and schools choosing Chromebooks over iPads and Macs. We see it in IDC's prediction that the market for used smartphones will grow from 81 million in 2015 to 222 million in 2020--the old phones are still powerful enough for most users.

That's difficult news for the premium side of the device market, notably Samsung, which is preparing its comeback from the Galaxy Note 7 debacle, and Apple, which is rumored to be pricing its 10th anniversary iPhone at over $1,000.

Lol no I guess the writer never used a Pi as a main device. I am and although I can make it work it's a slow affair and the Pi freezes a lot. The ultimate device is a Surface phone with the much faster Snapdragin 835 chip (almost rivalling the Intel Core M) coupled with 8gig ram and 128+gb storage. If you buy a Oneplus 3t and a Pi starter kit the price will probably come close to a Surface phone sort $100/$200 but you'll be glad because you don't want to pull your hair out everytime use it. Also Samsung is going to provide a Remix OS type experience with the Galaxy S8...

While all above might suit number of dumb users, is not in the line with spirit of the article.
