Can some one please enlighten me?

Why are there so many DV formats and players?
Wouldn't serve humanity better if a universal one was created.

Man all these conversions one have to do and not to mention googling for the right free conversion software takes forever!

Many thanks

Ignorant D

PS. I need to write .gvi format to dvd (will that play in my dvd player??)
If not, will i need to convert it, if so with what???

I can almost gurantee that .gvi will not play on your DVD. .gvi is a google streaming format IIRC.

You'll need to convert it to a .vob file to guarantee playback. Possibly dvix or xvid will work...depends on your DVD player. VOB will work though, you can then just use a DVD writing software to write a DVD-Video disk.

Can you try http://www.dvdflick.net/ ?
