Why the ANC could lose Gauteng

Things will NEVER change in SA. If the ANC does not win they will form a coalition with the likes of the EFF etc just to retain power. Thing is these people have nothing else they can do, they have no skills and are not employable in the private sector. They are parasites. The general populous have no issue with this, it's similar to a chieftain system where the peasants believe the chief has earned his status and wealth.

Why is it that people think SA is somehow special compared to the rest of Africa? Democracy has never worked in Africa, just look at the history of Africa pre & post colonialism. And for those that go but but just look at the two countries that were never colonised, they are probably the worst out of the lot.
The EFF will want their own power. NEVER say NEVER.

If you take the past few elections results for Northern Cape, Gauteng and even Eastern Cape, you will see there is a trend where there are more people voting DA and less people is voting ANC. It is possible that the DA could take big parts that previously was ANC. The big thing is to convince people that do not want to vote, to do so during the next election. This time it could make a big deference!

They said the same thing about apartheid and the Nats. Things will never change, the anc will never be in government, etc.
Proven wrong, of course

'The ANC is a typical terrorist organisation ... Anyone who thinks it is going to run the government in South Africa is living in cloud-cuckoo land' - Margaret Thatcher, 1987

As far as I'm concerned as long as they don't vote ANC that's all I care for.

In some countries it is law to force people to vote. If you don't, you get fined. If we do that here, it will be the end of the ANC as they will not have a outright majority and a coalition government could then run this country.

I would not want to live in such a country. The act of not voting in itself IMO is a vote saying none of the parties on offer are worth a vote.

IMO the Sheeple will always vote ANC. At best they will not vote, but will never vote for anyone else.

The ANC will always have Gauteng and SA, sadly.

I do believe that you are not the "glass-half-empty" sort of folk. More like "they stole the glass" or "there ain't no glass at all" folk.

Personally, I will forever hope and believe that the ANC (or their present corrupt and fraudulent ways) can be overturned. There is always hope.

As long as the ANC's trickle up poverty policies (aka socialistic big government nonsense) are implemented and a strong middle class does not emerge, Gauteng will sadly remain an ANC province.

Respectfully, I disagree. Gauteng and EC are likely to fall out of the ANC control next. Unless the party pulls a massive rabbit out of the hat, it is inevitable that they will fall. First the Metros. And then the province.

In addition to this, the ANC will soon face a crossroad with regards to their current spending habits. There are limits to what revenue it can fleece from the taxpayer. If current spending patterns continue, the country will run out of money and be forced to borrow. With lending money comes terms and conditions, and the country will lose its sovereignty.

After the débâcle with Greece, few will be lending South Africa anything without expectation that we cut spending. There will need to be a plan to which we will need to adhere or risk consequences. Those lending will be paying very close attention to everything we do and play a leading role in how we run the country.

China will not be doing handouts or bailing the ANC out of hole they get themselves into.

Spending cuts will almost certainly need to be seen in the Public Sector (which is already far to fat!) and Social Welfare. Both will cause untold damage to the Government and Party.

While I hope this will never happen, it feels like it is just around the corner if something dramatic doesn't change.

And in those countries people simply spoil their votes. Besides I don't want the choice of not having a choice.

The ANC will never allow a gauteng loss. They will do whatever it takes to keep it or make it ungovernable
It won't happen and yes I am willing to bet my lunch. I would love to be wrong but .....

I would vote ANC if it meant keeping EFF out. South Africa would not survive an EFF government. Hope it never comes to this. I may have to take some anti-nausea medication before voting :)

As far as Gauteng is concerned, the ANC have almost a limitless supply of dirty tricks in store if they see they loosing Gauteng. Just look at the recent Tlokwe decision in the con Court, and that was a tiny ward.

I think e-tolls and Marikana will change people's view of the ANC.
