Capitec is not part of the Big Four. But I hear you.

Yeah, I think this is incredibly frustrating. As I said, I haven't done a single transaction in 6 years on my banking app because of this.

So far, they don't. But yes, there is a good chance they will in the future.
Just recently, ABSA introduced facial biometrics, forcing everyone to use their face to unlock their app. I am not happy about that either. If I can use my finger, why do you need my face?

Coping by not caring.

It is less friction to use the app than it is to find a desktop or to go through the pains of using the website on my phone than it is to just share my location.

In the grand scheme of things, FNB getting my location now and then is probably a drop in the ocean of my data being shared / sold.

I care, and I am still fighting back.

Part of the general overreach we are seeing from many private companies that have no right to your data.

South African companies and services experience hundreds of hacks every month. The best way to protect users data is to collect the least amount of data possible. I also don't believe asking for your location is just about fraud, it's about profiling you and monetizing that information.

I don't know about you, but I get spam calls every week from random companies trying to sell me services. Most of the time, they already know my name, and that is because my bank has shared it with them.

The UK/Australian style, why did you draw cash, how much cash do you have, what are you using the cash for style questions will be next. massive overreach.
