Why would a POTS filter not filter out the ADSL "noise"?

When I connect a POTS filter to the wall socket and plug the phone into the "phone" side, the noise is not filtered. I have tried using different filters and different wall sockets, same result. Line used to work perfect on pre-paid. Now only ADSL works.

Maybe it is your phone? Test another one and see.

A working POTS filter will successfully filter out high frequencies that are outside of the voice spectrum (I think voice spectrum is typically around 10-20000Hz). If you are hearing things that you know you shouldn't be hearing, even with the DSL filter on your line, then most likely your line is experiencing some kind of induced noise/interference from another source which is affecting the voice portion of the spectrum. Do you still hear the same noise with your modem unplugged? Could you perhaps describe the noise you hear? - Is it a constant sound or variable in intensity/tone/etc?

Tried different phones, same result. The noise is at a constant tone, with pauses now and again, but rhythmically ("Beeeeeeeeeeeeeep, Beeeeeeeeeeeeeep, Beeeeeeeeeeeeeep").

EDIT: Even with modem unplugged, same result.

Yes, the POTS filter is used just before the phone (phone line directly from phone to pots phone filter socket).

From what I can see, no outside interference on the outside cable that connects to the box. No electrical fence or alarm

Dialed my own number, reached another person's house who said she had that number for years. Guess it's a line crossover issue then.

Sound like a line problem low installation will case a problem like that , had a few already

Had same a few years ago. Telkom confirmed (eventually) that it was a line problem from the exchange to who knows where. They fixed the line and now I dont need a filter at all.
