Why would anyone play on PvE servers? Let's compare!

In my limited raiding career (for another topic), I must admit that I haven't experienced any griefing whatsoever.

Leveling, dailys and instancing; countless times, but thats where being in a decent guild comes into play. Nothing nicer than a bunch of guildies swooping out of the sky to sort out a few problem children. But as time goes by, it has become easier due to gear, skill and experience.

I'll take that as a thank you :)

:p

Interesting point Werries...

Do you not think pve-realm characters level ALOT faster than pvp ?

What's the point of having horde/alliance if you're never in danger? Guild wars has 1 race of characters only and they can fight each other just as well in pvp if not better.

We may be missing out on alot, but there's nothing quite as exciting as walking through Ganklethorn-Vale and Southshore waiting to be cheapshotted by a rogue or moonfire spammed by a OOMkin

PVE characters indeed do level up a lot faster.
The point of having two factions on PVE servers is that you can still engage in PVP whenever you like to do so. Attack on a city for example.
If you can point me to a mature PVP server where there are no kiddies running around just to agrevate people then I will join it. But unfotunatly there is none.
WOTLK will have one zone that will be permanently PVP even on PVE servers, I am looking forward to that! You go there, and you actualy engage the other faction in battle.

Haha what in the world is fun in tagging yourself for pvp its like saying hey iam waiting for you gank me in my S4.OMG.
Thats just stupid.
No wonder you get bored lvl 70s on pve

I like to suprise people.
And even be suprised.
they should really take wawy pvp gear on pve servers i dont see the point they should just ba able to be used in BG and arena

Hell if they levelled the playing field by doing that i'm all for it :D

PVP gear only equippable in BG/Arena ftw

I've seen it happen in world pvp like the towers at auchinduin. I'd be in PvE gear capping when a hordie comes charging in to kill me. Equip my pvp gear they stop and rethink the plan. Ganking only due to gear/lack-of is not competition.

"Oh look he's wearing all greens trying to upgrade. lets kill and corpse-camp him for a while"

PVP is meant to be for sports, not about making the other guy's life difficult because he happened to roll a different faction.

World pvp is about kill or be killed i let allies walk past(jusst not gnomes just like to see the dieing animation) me a few times when hes a lvl or 2 lower only to regret it 2mins later when i pulled 3 mobs and are at 20% health.

The funniest thing I have ever seen was from a friend of mine on a PVP server.
It was the day the new S3 Vengeful Gladiator gear was released... EVERYONE was crowding up buying their new gear with saved up arena points...

Him playing a mage... had 2 dedicated healers on him... ran into the room in netherstorm in area 52 where everyone is bunched up trying to buy their gear... Now this is like 200 people in a small room, i see him blow all his trinkets and his arcane power abilities and just start with AOE arcane explosions in the room...

Just saw a ton of allies yelling "Common Bur Agol" Never seen so many dead allies in one room. Having 2 dedicated healers on him, he pretty much cleared that room out in no time... Needless to say it was mass war shortly after that.

Anyways if i see someone in pvp gear i attack cause it means he will attack you so why not do first strike get the advantage

Imo, and no offense to Acid or any other mature player who uses them, gamecards is one of the main reasons that we have so many kiddies running around.

I'd like the PvE server guys to give us a list of why they're there etc. It would be cool to compare the two for new guys joining and not knowing the difference...

I orginally started on a PVP server, Ravenholdt. Leveling got the point where it wasnt fun due to the ganking. WoW is all about fun, so I rerolled to Lightbringer (normal realm). Last year, think there was a thread here about PVP vs PVE realms... so i made another char on Ravenholdt, got this 1 up to 62. Then decided to PCT to Lightbringer where i had my gold, mats, items and friends.

There is one big problem with PvE vs PvP

It's like driving an 1100 Uno all your life and one day you buy a 1800 Golf or something.

You will never drive the Uno again, ever :p

Once you have played on a PvP server, PvE servers seems so dead :o

You compare the difference with an Uno and a Golf?

My word, PvP must suck donkey balls then

You pve guys make me sad.
i have seen people act like real idiots alot more in pve than in pvp.

Will take the donkey balls>Uno anyday

lol,

I was trying to point to the engine capacity :p
and seeing that we're in South Africa, what else could I have used :o

But you clearly missed my point :p go go go roll on a PvP server like the rest of us :D

We've created quite a reputation on our server's forums and it's gotten to such a point where our guild name below our char names are referred to as our Gank Tags, because no matter what lowbie level you are - you will be marked by the horde.

This makes it difficult, but at the same time ... you shout help in the guild chat and 20 lvl 70s come to your aid. This can go on for hours and adds a real feel to the game. Or you store your lvl 70 in the area your lowbie's questing, if you get harassed, log in and clean up :D

Besides, there's nothing more fun than drowning a hordie by sapping him when he's almost out of air ^_^

Would like to see you sap a undead they can stay underwater REALLY long.
Or druid i have seen allies drown going after undead in water more than once.

for endgame pve it makes sence to go on a pve server,
1) you can still do arena's and bgs and on it
2) At the moment it takes 15min to get into sunwell or Bt used to be a lot worse , this time you can use to get in the raid prepare and so on it saves time, 15min is 15min.
3) some people have very limit time to do dailies and so on , they honestly don't like being ganked while doing it and its not to bad talking to a ally every now and then, Also you CAN flag yourself by typing /pvp for those who want to get ganked =)

Thats, to me, is boring. Nothing like the days of running around Hillsbrad killing peasants and an ally comes along and you try out run him or 10 lvl 30 odds trying to take out a lvl 60. Being able to choose whether you want to PeeVeePee or not takes a lot out of the game for me.

it is true but some people just don't like the idea of going all mad savagery on lowbies ( personally i think Duskwood is a better ganking spot then hillsbrad xD) but like I said you can still do a battle ground and arena on a pve server if type /pvp just hope you find a lowbie who's stupid enough to type it next to me.
