Why you should pay e-tolls

5. It eases the burden on the poor

“E-tolling does not discriminate against the poor. It is a progressive tax, not a regressive tax,” said Marsay.

He said relatively wealthier people in Gauteng – people who can afford to own and run a car – have chosen to rebel against the system and that has condemned lower income people to a worse situation than they would have been in otherwise.

“It is going to take much longer now to make public transport better.”

Hahahahaha, Marsay is a funny guy. The poor is paying more for everything in the shops because of e-tolls. E-tolls increases the cost of logistics which increases the prices of items in shops.

Edit: Let us not forget if the fuel levy was used for this. The roads would have been paid for already. The fuel levy could already have decreased and the money wasted on this e-toll project could have been used for a ton of things that would have helped the poor.

Whut? Have e-toll been subsidizing public transport now?

The reality check is this :

The poor is paying more for everything in the shops because of e-tolls. E-tolls increases the cost of logistics which increases the prices of items in shops.

Why you should NOT pay e-tolls

If you do, then you are supporting corruption and dodgy tenders.

Don't you guys remember the original reason given for e-tolls?

We need e-tolls to pay for the cost of implementing an e-toll system.

So many points of propaganda in that. All of which equates to pure hogwash.
