Why Zuma dropped Zapiro charges

Shapiro was right, Zuma wants to avoid a potentially embarrassing court case so close to Mangaung. He is out of delaying tactics.

Absolutely the reason. Imagine him being cross examined by a smart lawyer. He'd trip all over that fat lip of his.
 
I agree. His problems are inside ANC. So he decided to focus on his future.

Could he not have seen that a looong time ago?

I think something else happened here: up to last Friday he was still adamant to go ahead with the claim, then he reduced it (but STILL maintained the claim) and then all of a sudden he drops it.

I suspect he got last minute advice from someone with a brain.

Yip.. he got advice from someone with a brain. Heard on highveld that Zooma says he is "for freedom of expression yada.. ". Think defnelty he is trying to score points with masses, to look like a "good" guy...

He must really be pissed considering that he spent all that money on muti so he would win.
