Telkom just phoned me and asked if my adsl is up and running. It is and as we were speaking i was downloading a torrent(so its definetly working :D ).He said on his side he could not see my modem as connected  so what does this mean? i asked him what i can do and he said that he would have to come and check.whats this all about.

am i gonna get in k@k for going over my cap if he comes and inspects  lol.

Just make sure that the person who you allow onto your premises is really a Telkom employee. This sounds a lot like a scheme that is going around to gain access to your premises and then clean the place out.

Yeah, I second Khyron. You must be very weary of these people...

Afaik all Telkom employees carry an ID with their name and photo on it.

Telkom have no interest in the status of your line, let alone pre-empting a fault from their side. Sounds very fishy to me.

they said they cant 'see' my modem online.i was trying to say theres no problem! dont try and fix it if it aint broke.

i went to college and they phoned again.thankfully my domestic worker told them shes not allowed to let anyone in without the house owner here :) very fishy

Yep, it does sound fishy. When my line was insalled just on Monday, it did not work. I spent about 3 hours on the phone with Telkom. I timed the last phonecall, it was 1 hour 21 minutes and they certainly did not vollunteer to come out to my site.

If your connection is working fine then I wouldn't worry about it.

:)

I would however worry about the people calling... maybe call Telkom and ask them if they can see your modem. If they say yes, then you know its not Telkom

Well, that's like 6 of the one or half a dozen of the other. Getting robbed or spending a few hours on the phone trying to communicate with Telkom.
