I just wanna copy the contents of a SD card so I can replace it with a larger one. Took it out of the tablet, plugged into the PC, start the transfer..... complete stall, 20min later nothing happens. This is repeatable. Tried normal copy, copy handler and freefilesync.

I flicked the read-only switch on the adapter, keep in mind I never tried to write to the card just read from, suddenly everything is fine and the transfer flies.

wtf

is win10 trying to write something in the background?

Stupid question so don't mind me asking it, I see you said normal copy as in copy or did you use 'cut' in all your tries?

No move, just copy or mirror.

I did nothing to actually write to it.

Could try to create a "system volume information" folder

Thumbnails no doubt

Thumbnails no doubt
Now formatted one and put it in, same thing only worse where the system completely looses it as if it's not plugged in and explorer completely locks up. Not a thumbnail problem..... could it be the reader?

Hmmm, was too busy to think about it (2 phones and 2 tablets that needed redoings) and now thought to test other cards too..... it's only the one card that does it and I feel stupid for only considering corruption now, must have gone bad.... doing a full format now to see what happens.

Funny thing, after having to suffer through various kinds of android samsung seems to be the ONLY company to actually get the software side right, huawei is close but not samsung level close..... lenovo actually manages to go in reverse half the time.
