Hi Guys

Is Unifi still a popular brand for large wifi setups ? Are there other brands available that perform better ?
Previously I found that with 3 or 4 Unifis, the handover became a problem, and possible interference caused erratic speed.
Also, what can be used for outdoor wifi?

thanks
Kitty

Can't say i've had any handover issues, and im running a few 6+ AP networks
Unifi also have a few outdoor units available that work well with the rest of their products

What have you currently got?

For outdoor using 2 x TP-LINK Outdoor 2.4GHz 300Mbps High Power Wireless Access Point.

Best for specific points/spots eg I require wifi at my gate when kids return home to open up gate.

Are they any better the TP-link ?
I don't know, never seen a shootout between the two. But I would go on Ubiquiti's rep, and the performance of its predecessors (Unifi UAP-AC-LR). In my experience, nothing the TP-Link has ever made comes close.
And BTW, the handover issues have been resolved some time ago already.

Although, do note it's not mesh.
Not strictly correct though, afaik the 6 lite also supports Wireless Uplinks ( there's some combos that won't work when mixing certain APs though for up/downlinks)
But it's definitely a "harder" mesh to do:D

If you want some budget-friendly pewpew if you can find Xiaomi AX routers the new models all support fairly easy-to-configure meshing

The Huawei's do too, but for what op is looking to do I think those Decos for R2k is about as good an option as he's going to get.

I have Unifi in my house, 349m2, 4 AP's and no hand over issues at all.
Do you have consistent speeds ? Which model are you using? How far apart are your APs? Did you adjust the TX power in any way or left it at auto?

I have a mix.

2x in wall AC Pro's
1x AC-LR
1x AC-HD

Distances apart I am not sure but I have lots of concrete and brick separating them.
I get my full line speed pretty much everywhere in my house

Yes all 420m2 of my house gets far more speed than I need. Have 3 x U6LR which I upgraded from 1xHD and 2xPro. My house is shaped in a U and have the 3 AP's almost the middle of each leg. No I use the AI, which to be honest is adequate, but you can do much better by tweaking if you bothered.

No idea why you think Unifi has handover issues. Years ago if you enabled zero handoff yes, but fast roaming works, and even if you dont enable that there are no inherent problems.

I see most of the suppliers have a shortage of the U6-Lite.
I checked with Scoop, Miro, Corex, Uniterm.
But I see Senetic has, but have not bought from them before - anyone has an experience with them to share?

Someone posted that Scoop should have the U6 lite in stock late Oct / Nov

The first 4 are the distributors, Senetic is a reseller. So I seriously doubt they have actual stock. I would confirm with them first before putting money down to be honest. I’m looking for 2 * U6-LR’s myself

I use UniFi in my house. The WAPs are all wired (about 8 of them, one of them being an outdoor device), and I have a dual/WAN router, so it can fall back to wireless if the fiber link has any problems. Works great so far.
