So now that I have the 10GB Afrihost deal, it's time to start playing with IP Camera's at home so that I can see whats going on at home while I am at work (pc) or while out (android)...

Can anyone recommend a camera to buy which possible comes with some DVR software to run on my laptop at home and which also allows remote acces once I have sorted out the routing on my wifi/3G router?

Price and where to buy?

What type of camera are you looking for (indoor, outdoor, bullet, pan&tilt, resolution, IR capable)? Your cheapest option would be to look on Aliexpress but you need to read the supplier reviews carefully to avoid being scammed. You could also look at the local Foscam supplier -www.foscam.co.za. It might be worthwhile to visit a China Mall nearby to get an idea about the different types of Chinese cameras available.

I think I will start with an outdoor fixed unit focusing on my driveway and front gate..... Will check out the links, thanks.

@FlashSA: SD card support is probably also important in case you need to store pictures if your internet connection goes down. Just check with the supplier as some models do include this option.

I have only had great experiences using Edimax hardware, and the pricing is quite good as well.
