Hi guys, I'm having trouble using local-only data when connecting through my Wildfire's wifi... My router is set to pppoe mode, and all local sites work fine from my PC (google, youtube, mybroadband, etc). When I try access local sites from my phone browser, it works as well, /except google services/. www.google.co.za is not accessible, but if I ping it and get its ip from my PC, and direct-connect to the IP, it works :wtf:. I have a modified hosts file for local services on my PC, but I can still connect to google/youtube even if I remove my changes. Even stranger, I can access the android market from my phone, through local cap.

I am not rooted, else I would tweak the hosts file on my phone. On that note, I tried a method that involves getting a temp-rooted adb shell, but I managed to somehow destroy my current one-line hosts file (it just listed 127.0.0.1 as localhost). Is that bad? Meh... if anyone has an idea of why the hell it won't just work, please give a shout, I'd like to actually use the youtube app on my phone, and using my leftover local cap would be great

UPDATE: my router is set to half-bridge mode, and if I dial my afrihost account over the default local-only connection, I can access the whole web, except google services and youtube, despite using them for the entire afternoon? O_o is this problem on google's side, or are my settings just really messed up?

UPDATE: it's working again now. I don't even know
