I have a acer aspire 5253 laptop with windows 7. I want to connect my drifta (DSTV mobile device) wireless to my laptop. It shows connected and the bar is green, but there is a small yellow block with an exclamation mark in it. It does not want to connect. I also tried to connect the drifta through a lan, but same problem. I have McAfee antivirus on the laptop and I also put off the firewall of the antivirus, but it still does not want to connect. My wireless network connection status show the following: IPv4 connectivity - no internet access, IPv6 connectivity - no network access. I don't know if that is the problem. I want to connect to a network and not the internet. I know there should be no internet access. I don't know how to rectify it. However my Cell C connection is fine with no problems. My previous laptop had windows XP on it and i did not have a problem connecting my drifta wireless or lan. Can anyone please help.

As far as I know, the yellow exclamation mark will be there since there is no internet access. Could you maybe post the IP Address your wireless has? Just to check if it isn't perhaps assigning an APIPA address.

I've got no experience myself. Don't even have coverage for Drifta in East London  . But looking at the Guide on Drifta website, it seems like you should connect it with USB and not through wireless? Might be the issue, since the software might be developed to use USB? Looks like the wireless option is for phones only

Here's the guide I looked at : http://apps.dstvmobile.com/decoder/driftaquickguide.pdf

Thanx. My IP address is: 192.168.16.50. I also tried to connect it with USB, but same problem. I connect it wireless through my iPhone 4 and it is working fine. Like I said previously, it was working fine with my old laptop with Windows XP (Wireless and USB). With my new laptop with Windows 7 it is not working. This is the first time I am working with Windows 7. I think my problem could be with my antiVirus.

You need to open network and sharing center and turn on Network Discovery and Possibly File Sharing as well (not sure with the drifta).

Click where the Yellow triangle is, at the bottom Open Network and Sharing Center, to the top left click Change Advanced Sharing Settings :)
