Wii connected to internet?

I have been able to get the Wii to pass the connection test, but I still cannot get it to connect, I keep getting WiiConnect and Wii Shop Channel service is not currently being offered.
Does this mean that its not available as yet, I see nothing on the Wii site.
Has any been able to connect with their Wii?

Hmm ... interesting, i had previously been able to connect to the shop, cant anymore.

Had the same problem, I went into settings and changed my country from South Africa to United Kingdom and it started working. Apparently it seems that it doesn't work for SA, of course this means that the forecast channels will only cover areas in around the UK.

WiiConnect24 , Shop and others are not available here yet.

As the previous post says, set your region to Uk or some such and you can get the channels. Apparently it should be coming here soon although they've been saying that since last year.

Places where services like WiiConnect and the shop are unavailable will usually be locked out. As mentioned above, changing the region is an easy solution, like making a Japanese PSN account to access their PSN store's demos.
