Well I am allergic to cats ( I feel like I have a cold, nose gets blocked throat itches and feels blocked and so I battle to sleep etc).

I am going down to Durban for 12 weeks with my gf to see her mum and she has 3 cats so just wondering.

So will allergex help me? :)

Thanks in advance

EDIT: NOT 12 WEEKS sorry sorry 12 days!!!

Allergex has helped me with my allergy to cats. But you could also perhaps get something from the doctor if you have a severe allergy to cats. I know allergex can work but only for very mild allergic reactions and eventually i find your body becomes resistant to the medication and it doesn't work as well anymore.

depends on how allergic you are to cats, whether antihistamines will actually work. try and minimize exposure to the allergen & rather get dazit/deselex or even fexo/telfast 180. can buy over the counter. allergex will make you very sleepy/drowsy.

I'm allergic to cats to , alergex wont help if your constantly exposed to cat hairs etc, I have a friend with cats going all over his house, sleeping in their beds that kind of thing, after awhile the alergex don't do the trick anymore.

allergex is a mild, over the counter antihistamine. I think you will need something stronger and you should probably go and see your doctor if you can or at least ask the pharmacist what he suggests.

I am actually bringing a pop up tent and putting it in the house :o so the cats can't get to anything of mine (rub themselves sleep on my clothes etc).

once I needed a asthma pump to help me breath but that was because I took nothing and was exposed to cats for like a week.

You are going to need something stronger than allergex then if you required an asthma pump to help you breathe. Allergex just won't cut it.

Try drinking "Rooi Bos" Tea it worked for my old man and my sister. I know it tastes like ****. But after a couple of days they were not fighting the cats.

I will not stay in a house with cats any more. The last time someone put me in hospitality with like three cats who slept on the guest bed. The next morning my eyes were puffy and bright red. Even taking allergex only helps for a little while but then at night it wears off. It will help but not enough.

I used to take allergex but the Nasonex and Deselex combo I'm on now is sooooo much better. Definitely worth the trip to the Dr.

I take an antihistamine called "Texa 10" occasionally. It's a bit stronger than the normal stuff. There's another one available freely that's stronger than that but I don't want to use anything unneccesarily strong. Used to be rather allergic to cats and I've been living with 3 of them for over a year now. I think you will get used to the cats if you live with them.

Yoahhhh I am finally back.

The tent I pitched up in the lounge did not work.
Allergex is a 50/50 chance but to be honest does not do the job.
I got other tablets called Dazit(I think) cost me R54 and the person told me it was like a generic of deslex =Didn't work either and only got 10 tablets for 54 bucks.

Eventually decided to take homeopathic medicine (Natura Mixed allergen). Um helped but to be honest I still woke up battling to breath and that cost me 84 bucks.

Basically I rate vicks did a better job.
wow I am still coughing and and have a runny nose. :(

Yes it will... but your body will become use to it after a whiles use...

There is a other product on the market that I use its called Alergy Complex from Nativa... a Natural Health company. Its very safe to use because all their products are made from good quality herbs and antioxidants.

www.nativa.co.za

Other stuff on the site aswell. + excellent services
You should try it and let me know.

Well, rules are.... keep your hands clean (wash them after you touched the cats) and try not to get into contact with any place they've lied on. You'll do fine with minor discomfort. Otherwise just tell your girlfriend you're not as into her as you thought you were and break up for the duration while she's down there :D

My problem with cats are their tiny hairs floating in the air... Its gives me ver bad alergies. throat closes, eyes swelling etc.etc

I have a cat staying with me for the month, i cough and sneeze constantly, alrgex doesn't really helps (but it does makes me tired...),
I also had to buy an asthma pump.

Thanks,

There really isn't anything you can take that I have found. I'm highly allergic to cats. I will under no circumstances stay in a house with cats, or allow cats into my house. The last time I stayed with cat owners, my eyes were like flames of hellfire the next morning and I couldn't breathe the whole night.
