It looks if CellC will have lots of ppl making use of their latest "120 min free calls over weekends" offer. Will this have any effect on VM data users over weekends. And if this does have an effect on the feed to CellC, can we expect to see slower speeds on VM??

Just asking. :(

Better not affect my data on Virgin... I rely on it for email constantly...

Cell-C is effectively insolvent, according to latest reports. They have never made a profit.
The limited free call offer seems like a gimmic to get new subscribers. I predict Virgin will lose some business, but their pricing will not be affected.

I think so too, in a few weeks there'll be a headline "Cell C subscribers up 70%", what it won't mention is that most of them are actually people spending the minimum amount with 5 sims each to get the free mins. I doubt it'll affect VM pricing but it probably will impact on network load, especially for data.

Nah... Virgin's data's been ok... I'm only using it to check my email over GPRS so I expect it to be slow :P

It wont affect the speeds afaik. In theory the speeds should be better (more people talking than surfing ;) ). But in busy areas it will affect data users, as Voice do have priority over data. Thus far all is good in my area.

Sometimes I wonder why someone was willing to invest so much money in a venture with such funky/risky structuring...

Going up against two established providers with a planned 50/50 debt/equity split, 5bn (high yield) bonds issue and numbers that won't even work when optimistic. wtf?

Same here, but maybe this is just the calm before the storm.
