Will Eskom kill telecommuting?

Nice and very relevant column by Ben. I am however thinking about the following statement:

I can get up in the morning, drop the kids at school and then take the short drive home, pour myself a cup of non-office coffee and settle down with my laptop to research and write stories.

As an avid gamer and tech fanatic I am certain this research can take many hours, especially when researching the complexities of climbing another level in WoW :D

I've been a telecommuter since I moved to SA - I'm not sure I could handle the constraints of an office environment for long these days :D
At home I have a little ADSL line and while Telkom services keep running - or at least I think they do - even when the power goes down my ADSL router doesn't.
I've got a small generator but if you didnt want to go to those lengths you could always get yourself a USB ADSL modem and a spare battery for your laptop (although the generator would be cheaper!) :)

Lol.

As a telecommuter, I never stray from the normal office environment.
So, no games during work hours, but myADSL is fine. :D

Yeah, it's a fine line etc, but the line is clear nonetheless.
Were I in the office now, I would be wasting time here - but I would not be playing Crysis.

As to the power backup, well, I have a gennie.
And my desktop is rsynced to the laptop, and ADSL router has its own UPS.
