It seems all the other countries are lowering the interest rates now. So who here thinks that the Reserve bank will decide in it's monetary meeting today and tomorrow that they will drop the interest rate? If you say yes, by how much?

I think Mboweni might keep it the same or drop it by half a point...

Markets are in turmoil, I think he will leave interest rates the same. MAYBE raise them (CPIX got even higher in September). I think dropping them is way too soon, since inflation is still too high and Rand will get even weaker than it is now, regardless of the fact that the global markets turmoil are causing the Rand to fail.

Also remember that the re-awakening of the Zim political crisis and the imminent ANC party break-away is also putting pressure on the Rand now. That may also squash any possibilities of rates being dropped now.

I think he rather raise it - especially if he want to prove a point. He has lately shown that he doesn't give a rats ass about anything else but him, so maybe it will go up. Inflation did do too good last month also.

I get the same feeling, but if he is worth anything at this stage, probably Skinner's prediction will be the correct one.

He would be mad to drop the interest rates at the moment, we would see the Rand tumbling to historic lows if that happens.

Leave them as they are for the time being.

I pray for another +1% pls pls pls :(

Sounds hard but I don't want the rate to come back and nite my arse later. Rather move it up than down. If at all maybe just keep it the same but don't drops it !!!!!!!

Seems like all these first world economies are falling to pieces, they should of tightened their belts. Stupid first world people.

LOL, agree. 70% stay the same - 30% maybe lower 50 basis points.
