Hello,

Main use of this system will be for office related stuff - MS Office, several databases, permanent connection to Internet, etc. - all lasting approx. 12 hours per day.

Some minor usage will include 3-5 hours per week of Photoshop and similar programs (basic workflow of files of up to 12 MB in size) as well as watching 1-2 DVD movies per week.

I do not know much about hardware and will truly appreciate if you could comment if all mentioned is compactable and if I am missing something on this list. (I know that DVD reader/writer, keyboard+mouse & monitor are missing.)

So, here is the system:

Case and power supply:
UniQue Midi Tower+Handle-500w

Motherboard:
Intel® CLASSIC SERIES, TOPSFIELD Intel® P43 Express Chipset Support for an LGA 775 Intel® Core™2 Quad Duo processor,Intel® Pentium® , Celeron®,Celeron® 400 Sequence processor ,FSB Support 1333/1066/800 MHz ,ATX Max Memory 8 GB¹,Dual Channel DDR2 800/667 MHz ,Audio : Intel® High Definition Audio (REalTek* ALC888VC) S/PDIF :Audio out header (3x1) LAN controller : 10/100/1000 LAN Intel® 82567V Gigabit Ethernet Controller

Processor:
Intel Pentium Dual Core E5200 2.5GHZ, 2MB L2 Cache, 800Mhz FSB, EM64T, Execute Disable Bit,45NM

Memory:
2 x Transcend 1GB DDR2 800Mhz Memory Module

HD:
Seagate Barracuda 250GB Serial ATA Hard Drive ( SATA 3.0Gb/s, 7200rpm, 8MB Cache)

Graphic Card:
Point Of View PCI-E 9400GT 512MB GDDR2 Memory TV READY
Question: Will I be able to attach two LCD monitors to this card?
If not, please advise which card (of similar price and with similar memory) will allow 2 monitors at the same time.

Speakers:
Altec lansing 2pc Speaker System-Black

Network Card:
D-Link Gigabit Network Card 10/1000 UTP

OS:
Microsoft® Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit 1pack DVD (DSP)

Looks like a good system for office work. For Photoshop though, you might want to get some more RAM... but the problem with that is you'll have to use the 64-bit Vista...or why not use Windows 7 RC 64-bit while it's free? If you still need to buy the Vista DVD it'll save you the extra R1000 or so to use Win 7. Vista runs like a legless dog on 2GB of RAM too...
As for that card, I think it has one DVI and one VGA port so you could theoretically use two monitors, but the one plugged into VGA port won't be the same quality as the DVI...

might be wrong. Rather go for a core2duo than dual core. i had a dual core for about 3 month after switching to core2duo. and wouldn't 1 2gig ram block be cheaper than 2 1gig ram blocks?

Jetway is not a good brand:o

Thanks.

However, is this board the one you had in mind?

If I remain with original mother baord and go with

Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 2.8GHZ, 3MB L2 Cache,1066Mhz FSB,VPro, VT, EIST, EM64T, Execute Disable Bit,45NM

Is that ok?

I think It would be fine

Add More RAM to it as well 4gigs
and don't get a 9400gt Graphics card rather get an ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB PCI-E DUAL DVI-I / TVO LITE R 639 excl. R 728 incl.

And check out http://pcint.co.za/components.php

There's not a world of difference between the E5200 and E7400, I would rather spend a bit more and get a quad instead.

(sorry for hijack)

Would a P6T and Core 2 Quad go together alright or do I need an i7.

WHat would be the best motherboard to go with Core 2 Quad?

Unless you are heavy into OC'ing and need a gazillion sata & usb ports then just get a Gigabyte G31 board (Max 4GB ram) and spend the money you save on a CPU or GPU.
