Hi,well i bought a laptop last year but never use it anymore

My pc has a pirate version which i'd like to make a legit copy.

So can i use the laptops win7 key to make it legit?

Go to g2a.com, buy a Windows 8.1 key for $22, install Windows 8.1 and upgrade tomorrow to Windows 10.

Nope. Oem keys aren't transferable.

This is not completely legal, but you can try. Not sure it will work, these are OEM keys after all.

You can still use laptop - fully legal. OEM's use generic keys, the same on all laptops (not those printed on the backside), as Windows 7 licence is embedded in the BIOS. So unless keys were already used for reinstalling Windows from scratch they are virgin.

Problem arise when you want clean Windows installation on the laptop (you would want to use those), but when it happen you will learn how to insert OEM certificate to the new installation matching one in the BIOS, so Windows will activate offline using generic OEM keys. This operation is also perfectly legal.

They key is stickered on the back of the laptop

What he's saying is that the key on the COA is normally never used and Windows 7 is pre-activated by the OEM using a combination of BIOS SLIC markers and digital certificates. This means that you could keep your Windows legal on the laptop and still use the COA key on the desktop.

However, this is still illegal because the COA key is OEM and is not allowed to be transferred unlike a retail COA/key.

Those can't be fully legit, probably MSDN or OEM keys being sold as Retail?
That's even well below wholesale DSP price.

Suppose they'll still work, till MS discovers the serial range that was sold as retail and potentially blacklists them.
Suppose for joe blow/man in the street its neither here nor there, they either work or they don't but I wouldn't use those keys for a business machine.

The cheap keys are OEM:

"WARNING! Use of this OEM software is subject to the terms of the Microsoft OEM System Builder License. This product cannot be downloaded from an online platform. You have to acquire the installation files on your own."

For R399 you can get the "Microsoft Windows 8.1 Professional 32/64 Bit CD-KEY GLOBAL"

Not sure what that one is but still something doesn't add, no negative ratings though?

Have seen similar Keys being sold on another popular local forum, what you know a few months down the line some activation "issues" started popping up.

It depends on whether or not it's an OEM key. Search the internet to see if it's generic. If it's not you can use it on desktop.

I'm also interested in purchasing from g2a. My laptops have legit windows 7 keys, but my PC which I use for gaming has a harrr! windows 7 installation

A COA key is not generic. However, it is still illegal to re-use. The OEM SLP key however thats already in use in the OP's laptop is generic.
