I wana know if the people on mywireless classic will be upgraded to 1mbps??

It does not look like it. I am also on a classic package through no wire.

If you read the article and the sentech website it looks like it is only for flexi subscribers.

In October/November when people were being moved from Classic to Flexi, users almost started WW3 and left in droves.
Because of this it was decided to leave the rest well alone.
Now we have the opposite senario.
Damned if you do and damned if you dont :)

Nice to hear from you ProAsm
Do you still work at Sentech?

Giving their Classic customers the same speed boost would have been a nice way to mend some fences

What a joke, just yet again. In our favourite land.

and there I was....

And there I was thinking things might improve after Winston "promises" left and Marcel took over.....

As you said Snaz, "In our favourite land......"

Come on Setech/NoWire, convince us to stay!!!

Yeah JStrike, still there but have nothing whatsoever to do with mywi or any multimedia stuff, and back in good ol TV where the real things are happening :)

Hdtv?

ProASM, if you work on the TV side, maybe you can answer the following question: When will we be getting HDTV?

I dont know, surely we have the right to see our contracts out and not cancelled unilaterally without some sort of recourse, its not as if sentech/nowire offered to let us out of them, in fact I never even heard a peep from neither of them when the whole furore about flexi/classic erupted. We were within our rights to start WW3, and seeing as our custom isnt of any consequence to sentech or nowire then we also have the right to take our business elsewhere when our contracts are up. The fact is that that sentech really handled the whole thing in such an unprofessional manner that a large amount of their ex customers will not touch them with somebody else's 10 foot barge pole!

If sentech had to come to the table with reasonably priced proposals and better service who knows what those of us left behind on classic would do. I have been reasonably happy with MiWi and frankly reading all about iburst and my previous dealings with them leave me loath to move across to them in November, but alas what other choice is there? Telkom is not an option in my case as I live in rental accomodation. As for nowire, they are a lost cause, they do not even do you the courtesy of replying to emails or telephone messages.

Roll on my 40 days! :-)

Kryon_MC : Sentch handles signal distribution. They are currently moving the entire national broadcasting system from terrestrial analog to terestrial digital. DVB-T i believe.
Note that this is not HDTV. HDTV is a resolution. Digital TV (DVB-T) is a transmission mechanism. There has been a test digital signal in pretoria somewhere for many years now. DSTV has been digital since the begining.
What Sentech is doing is expanding terrestrial digital TV to the rest of the country now.
As for when HDTV will be here? DSTV will be first at the end of this year (If I remember correctly) and HDTV over DVB-T will arrive at some point after DVB-T is rolled out. But as to which channels, etc will depend on each broadcaster

Kryon_MC, as JStrike says, and you need to direct your question at SABC and eTV.
