Will Windows 10 be the best operating system yet from Microsoft?

XP remains awesome... just a real pity support is finished...

Like they say if the service is free you're most likely the product..

With Windows 10, Microsoft is trying to turn the tide against the proliferation of operating systems across desktops, servers, tablets, and smartphones by creating a single operating system that will run on them all.
I think Microsoft have as much chance of acheiving this as King Canute had with the tide in English folklore.

:D

It was by far the easiest thing ever to upgrade to windows 10. It was almost like applying a new skin. Everything is just working correctly.

I read this opinion article on NAG earlier...

http://www.nag.co.za/2015/07/29/five-reasons-you-should-not-upgrade-to-windows-10/

Yeah... don't know what to say.

The Enterprise upgrades we did since yesterday are already proving to be much more accommodating. Going to upgrade my home machines over the weekend.

The amount of crap that comes out of NAG is astounding. I think the last time I enjoyed something they produced was a decade ago in high school, before their magazine collapsed.

Win 10 apps.

Trying to get "normal" desktop windows users excited about "apps".
What nonsense.

The power of windows has always been the full featured programs developed for the desktop platform.
Trying to get us excited about silly full screen, watered down "apps" with 8/8.1 was insulting.

There may be a future in mobile/tablet computing, but why force it down the necks of "normal" desktop windows users?
And now we are expected to be happy about the baby sized, colorful, data eating, live squares on the start menu?

MS just can't seem to let that experiment go.

Classic shell, on 8/8.1. All that was required.
And so now also for win 10, which is a great product, in all other senses.

BTW is there a Windows 10 discussion thread as yet? If there isn't, there should be and it should obviously be stickied...

7 for me, has been the best to date and by some margin!!

8/8.1 is/was worth the upgrade. But only if used with start menu replacement like classic shell or Start8.

Using them, it looks/works identical to 7, but have many small improvements.

The same can be said of 10. Seeing that it is "free", if only for a while, it is worth it, if you make sure you can find all the privacy settings, us "paranoids" can track down.

It does seem that win 10 doesn't want to stray to far from the mothership, at any time.

Nah, 10 is better in basically every way. It looks much more modern, allows you to finally make use of Metro apps and is a must-have for gamers, to name a few perks.

There are a bunch of Windows 10 threads already. Too many. Discussions are fragmented all over the place.
