Yes = Chip console, ditch the warranty, and be able to play copied / imported games

No = Keep the warranty...and only play original PAL Games

Why Why Why?

Its like the whole global warming effect, everyone thinks that they alone can't make a difference, some people even argue that it doesnt exist, and that they are not contributing to its effects.

Its the same with chipping your console and buying pirated games, if everyone starts doing it, then the company's that make the games won't be profitable any more, and fewer and fewer titles will be released, only the Gaming giants will be able to push out games and there will no longer be competition in the market.

And like we are seeing already, gaming titles are being cancelled before they are even complete.

By chipping your console your contributing to destroying the gaming industry...

My xbox 360 is to seksy to be chipped

But also with the latest firmware for the xbox 360 if you mod the console you wont be able to use xbox live

Please note that chipping is not necasarily for piracy but rather to play ntsc. Its all about getting around regioning.

If I did purchase one i'd expect it to be chipped. R450 for a game ... forgetaboutit. COMPETITION FTW !
i.e. PAL suppliers competeing against NTSC suppliers .. more suppliers = more choice = competition.

Will chip if imported games are cheaper or there are games I want that are not available locally. If console companies want to have any argument against it then they're going to have to stop the anti-competitive practice of locking their hardware to specific regions. But real competition is totally alien to these people.

I didn't have to chip my Gamecube because I have Freeloader, which I need because not only are the games cheaper overseas, but Nintendo in their infinite stupidity only offer progressive scan on NTSC games.

If I had a PS2 I'd have it chipped because games are much cheaper overseas. And my research indicates that due to the general low quality of the product it is probably prudent to run games off a hard drive rather than relying on the laser being able to keep working with regular use.

I'm sure some someone will come up with a fix for this latest attack on the legitimate users of the product. Microsoft have no right telling customers where they may buy their games.

No I haven't: not a single one, but with the chip I've been able to buy my games from lik-sang and us suppliers over the years and saved myself thousends of rands and play dvd's from any region.

As far as I know theres allot of talk about it not being region locked but, i've also heard talk about it being a developers choice to region lock or not.

I thought you couldn't play originals if your console is chipped? so you buy an original and a copy of every game that you play?

Bought a chipped xbox in NZ a few weeks back. Very happy its chipped, as i found the hacked sofware that it can run really usefull.

It's being used daily as a media streamer and occasionally as a gaming console.
