Wimax and Xbox 360

Hi,

Does anyone have a Xbox hooked up to their Wimax connection? How is it performing in terms of local gaming?

I cannot get my Xbox connected. I am using the Telkom 5102G router but keep on getting a MTU failure on the Xbox live connection test. Any suggestions.

I have already port forwarded the router including giving it a static IP. I have kept the IP setting on the wimax modem to automatic for IP and DNS.

Normal browsing is working fine and I have played World of Warcraft for a week or so - was getting a ping of around 650 on European server Lightbringer.

By the way generally how does Wimax perform for online gaming - for FPS I will stick to SA servers...
 
WIMAX is great for online gaming, I use it on MWEB and SAIX servers with low pings....................;) I don't see a difference between my ping or anyone with ADSL!!

OK great, that is good to hear so if I can only fix my connection with the xbox I should be fine.

Planning to play a bit of guild wars and America's Army on my PC - but really want to play COD4, Halo 3 and Team Fortress 2 on Xbox.

Cool, my one buddy belongs to the 69 battalion SA clan and plays really often. Hoping to get the game from him this weekend and also join up.

But, I went home over lunch to try a few more things...nothing worked of course.

So I decided to just plug the wimax connection straight into the Xbox and enter the relevant PPPOE settings - it works!!!

I don't have any free gold subscription codes left and have already used my 3 accounts 1 month free gold membership - so I must still check out the performance of wimax over live - but at least I know how to connect it now.

But in the long run I will have to sort out the router option in order to avoid having to run a long network cable from my bedroom to the living room.

I think that Wimax box is also acts like a router and if you connect it to another router you need to bridge the connection?
