4Mbps Wimax Uncapped. I'm thinking of getting this to replace my Telkom Line. I was wondering if someone had this service and how good is it? I'm mainly going to use it for Gaming and Youtubeing rather than heavy downloads. Anyone have any feedback?

Hi Roxashe, I can only comment on the 2Mbps Neotel Wimax and it is amazing. They should really make a bigger noise about this as it is the best alternative to ADSL.

I have had it for a week now (not long I know), but I went from a simple request for info to having the entire thing installed within 2 days! The installation is on R500 which they will debit with the first subscrption on top of the R750 for the uncapped line.

I do not do heavy downloads, but do stream Netflix and Xbox Videos and have not had a problem yet.... The first minute or so of streaming is at a lower res and then cicks up to full SD (at least) after that.

Not sure about gaming (haven't really tested, sorry) - my latency is normally aroun 40ms so not sure if that'll be a problem, but download and upload speeds are very consistent which helps the stability. There have been posts mentioning that the line is affected by bad weather so I'll see how it goes with the Highveld thunderstorms in Summer....

I have previously used Telkom Mobile LTE, and although the speed was high, the stability was not there and acutal usability just not a great experience (lots or rebooting....), plus it was not uncapped and I always spent the last few days of the month in bandwidth saving mode!

I really cannot fault anything from the service, the quick installation, the line quality or anything.

Only thing that should stop you from getting this in my opinion is if you do not have line of sight to a tower....

I have installed WiMax 4mb. I couldn't make a better choice. I stream Full HD from Hulu on the tv and i will then watch a YouTube video also in Full HD on my Samsung and no buffering on any one of the devices. Also it is uncapped and unshaped. Service was also awesome from Neotel. Like djp2k said, i applied the Friday and by Tuesday morning at 10am i had internet.

The only bummer is Coverage. You have to have LOS, else it will be a no go. You may be in theoretical coverage on their maps, but if you have high trees / neighboring buildings surrounding you it is a big no-no. If your requirement is for a static IP address, then go Wimax, if not, you can go for the LTE service, also coverage dependent. DDNS does work to overcome most requirements.

So What's the difference between the Neoflex Wimax Lite and the Neobroadband WiMax?

Good day
I am also thinking of moving from Telkom 4meg (Afrihost Uncapped) to a Neobroadband 4meg wireless. Thanks to you guys for all the info above but I have one or two more questions:
1. How is Neobroadband 4meg for online gaming (Speed and Latency)?
2. Is this product good for Youtube video streaming?

I'm a bit nervous as I will have to cancel my Telkom line and Afrihost to sign a 2 year contract on a system that I've had no experience on.
Just thinking of how long it will be to get Telkom reinstated gives me a headache. Ha Ha Just thinking of talking to Telkom gives me a headache.;-)

Your urgent feedback will be highly appreciated.
