WiMAX versus LTE debate continues

WiMAX is here and working, providing many users around the world with broadband-on-the-move

i'm currently doing my 4th year BTech.IT mini-thesis on LTE, WiMAX and HSPA+ networks. I am very interested to find what South African Service Providers are doing with regards upgrading their infrastructures. Drop me a pm if someone has information about this please.

NSN has also only tested 100mbps, ericsson has reached 160mbps...

I'm so glad I don't work in some company's wireless network planning department. The headaches of deciding when/where/what technology to test/implement must be enormous.

Its simple.. this is an old article. I think about a year maybe two. Can't recall where I read this before, either ieee magazine, EngineerIT or on myadsl

You wouldn't be able to use either you need Telecom licences for both. I guess the decision would be with which telecom operator to use with either of these services. It will come down to cost, and the type/amount of mobility needed vs pricing +scope of this mobility according to company needs

Would advise you read the fine prints in their annual reports. Follow media reports as well and personally contact the right people amongst service providers. You will have an interesting discussions with them. You might also want to attend some of their presentations, check on the websites to know when the results / analyst briefyings are scheduled and request to attend. Read about developments in the international markets as well, as what happens internationally create an impact on our market.
