Hi,

Windows has this setting:

PC Settings > Windows Update > Advanced Options > (Choose how updates are delivered / Delivery Optimization) Allow downloads from other pcs > PCs on my local network

I have this setting turned on, but all pcs ignore it and fetch updates through the very slow internet connection.

At home I have 1 pc running win 10 64 bit 1709

Two older pcs with win 10 pro 64 bit 1703 and both at different stages of fetching the 1709 from the internet. I thought they should all talk to each other and share the updates but thats not happening...

The registry settings points WSUS to "WUServer"="http://your wsus ip".
Doesn't it require a web service to be running which host your updates?

I have not tried this seeing as I only twopcs so not bothered but I think that points to the ip of the desktop wsus is running on.

Do I need to install an app on the PC that will obtain updates from the internet to serve it to computers on my network?

Not really what you want. WSUS for 2 PC's is like using a shotgun to hit a fly.

For your purpose I would download ISO using Media creation tool mount via explorer and run setup from within Windows.
It is so much easier doing it without the media creation tool. I'd like to be able to do it via WSUS. :)
