Win10 pro upgraded from 32bit to 64bit

I have followed the instructions to change my OS to 64bit. All goes fine, I reboot etc., but when I check in Control Panel, OS is still x86(32bit).
All data is on a 32Gb USB drive.
What am I doing wrong?

It's best to format and do a fresh install when changing from a 32 bit to a 64 bit OS.

Information as per Microsoft website. I've created the x64 data, and when I change the Bios to read from the USB, everything is fine. I followed the prompts to INSTALL, and the process appears to go well. At the end, I'm asked to reboot, which I do. Then, the whole INSTALL business starts again... Vicious circle

Before any of this, I made 12356% that my system was compatible

If that's your question, you shouldn't be dispensing advice... A 64 bit Windows would refuse to install if he had a 32 bit CPU - nearly all mainstream CPU's made in the last 14 years are 64 bit.

You must be reinstalling the 32-bit version. What size is the ISO that you downloaded?

Go into the bios and set first boot priority to your hard drive. If your first boot device is the usb drive then it will try to re-install windows.

So, USB has already installed win10 64bit, I change the Bios, set boot to drive with the 64bit, and restart. At this stage, must I just leave the PC to do it's thing? How long roughly?

Okay, from the top.

1) Shut down your computer. Unplug the SATA cables of any other drives you don't want popping up during the install. Boot the system.

2) Verify that you have a 64-bit ISO. Use Rufus to flash the ISO to a 8GB flash drive. If you have a license key for Windows 10 Pro, download and unzip the ei.cfg file attached to this post and save it in the "sources" folder on the flash drive. This gives you the option to select which edition of Windows 10 you want to install.

3) Get into your BIOS and reset all settings to default.

4) Plug in your flash drive. Hit F10 to save BIOS defaults and reboot.

5) Hit whatever key your board uses to make a choice to boot from another drive (For most boards it is F11. Look up your board to find out which one it is). Boot from the flash drive.

6) Run through the installation. Delete any existing partitions and start off with an empty drive. At this point, I hope you've backed up your stuff.

7) When Windows notifies you that it's going to reboot to continue the installation, unplug the USB as the system reboots.

8) Let Windows run through the rest of the setup process. Set up an offline account, don't sign into a Microsoft account just yet.

9) You should now be on Windows 10 64-bit. Verify the version by right-clicking Start > System. Check for updates, install your drivers. Rename the computer. Activate using your key if necessary.

10) Once all driver installs are done, shut down the system. Reconnect any drives you had disconnected. Now you can change your sign-in info to use a Microsoft account if necessary.

Yippee, now have a Win10 Pro on 64bit!
Sadly tho, apart from my desktop pic, everything else is missing. Prior to all this upgrade stuff I Cloned my drive using Macrium Relfect. Any chance I can get some of my items back?

There is no upgrade to 64bit from 32bit,thats a misleading statement to call it Upgrade
You did a fresh install

However you made a backup - Mount the macrium disk and copy your data over

Thanks for the advice guys, everything is going well, and I've started copying my Cloned files to the active areas! Now my 8Gb shows as 8gb, not 3gb on Windows 32bit!
