Okay, not sure if it is all related, but I am starting to think it is...
A couple of weeks ago, skype dated and I am not using the windows 10 skype, I downloaded the desktop version form their site. So skype updated and I am happy to see that there are no more adverts and it looks a lot like skype on linux. All good...
Then I started missing conversations on skype, as I am not getting notifications. I talked to other people and they have been experiencing the same thing, so I write it off as bad MS programming.
Today a user complained to me that they are not getting their "new mail" popups anymore. Some websites call this toast for some reason.
So, went to her pc and spent over an hour trying to figure this out. Logged in with my name, downloaded my mails and same thing. Tested sending mails to another user, also doesn't work. Tried a 3rd user and she gets the notification. Thought to myself, I will test on my pc, as I am sure I am getting these notifications. Lo and behold, nothing. It isn't working for me as well. Now, since I do not get that many mails, I am not sure when it stopped working for me, but this user said it stopped working for her about 2 months back.
I thought, maybe this is a Exchange online mail thing, so tested on my laptop which uses an IMAP account for my personal mail and the same thing happens (or doesn't happen)... Notification issue seems to only affect Outlook and Skype, as it works for whatsapp and other software...
Not sure how to fix this.
