I've been at 4 new clients this month, all except one on Windows 10 and every single instance there was some Win10 issue I had to fix right out the box.
Its not just recent either, this is similar to stuff that just didn't work after I upgraded to Win 10 on my own laptop.
Small maybe but important stuff, like Edge not keeping its settings, the photo app not opening etc.

****ing Microsoft!

That is all.

I agree with you bro... just be careful of the Microsoft fans. They'll come here and accuse you of being incompetent, not doing XYZ right etc.. It's so bad I'd rather use Windows 98 than use Windows 10, that says something.

Tried to upgrade to Win8.1 on a new lenovo laptop (T470p) but had to stop as all the drivers are for win10 only.

Prefer to use win7 (or, in a pinch, win8.1) above win10. Sure, 10 have some nice stuff, but what is the use if it keeps on giving issues?

Luckely it's 2018 and there's a myriad of browsers for you to choose from.

I must say, I have never experienced any issue with Windows 10 until the very recent update. All solved now, but still…

Oh, and that my one notebook doesn’t want to accept (or agree with) the OEM license ever since the Windows 8 upgrade to Windows 10. Silly, unresolved issue.

From an administrative perspective, going through my device count, I have never experienced issues with Windows 10 other than user issues. There are compatibility issues, application or appliance, but is my work, or liaison with a third-party, to resolve that issue and I cannot lay that blame solely on Windows.

However, back in the day, printer sharing was a real pain in the ass, but it wasn’t limited to Windows.

I must be one of the few lucky ones then, never had a single issue with Windows 10. Not on my private machine or at work.
Same here. in fact 90% of our office machines are still on Windows 7, even though Windows 10 has been approved by management last year already. We're probably like only 10 who's using Win 10.

I just don't get it. Are some people just too stupid?! Most of the excuses are "I just don't like it" or some of my programs aren't compatible.

Take compatibility for example. If the program refuses to work on Windows 10, right-click, and select "Troubleshoot Compatibility", the OS will then go as far back as Vista mode to find the most compatible OS and run your program in compatibility mode. Most people who I have to help, do not know this.

If only it was that easy. Windows 10 does not allow me to install a particular program (attempts to install with the suggested bypass methods still fail.) and I cannot install in compatibility mode either. Cisco VPN Software that we and other suppliers connect to a major manufacturer who invested heavily into the VPN hardware before Windows 10. The web is awash with these issues. The only variable is Windows 10. It works out cheaper for us suppliers to run the VPN software in a Windows 7 VM just to use a browser.

I managed to get something working finally today on my side. Except it runs IE 11 perfectly. Edge does not load the website at all. Chrome can only connect by IP address and not URL name.

Works out cheaper to boot Windows 7.

Eventually all software needs to be updated.. cant continue to use something 10 years old because the software only runs on it.. massive limitation in the business if this is the case and all effort should be made to upgrade and support the new OS's. Weve had to do it, not by much though, but some small tweaks required because windows 10 does stuff slightly differently to previous versions, but ultimately its more stable in my opinion.

My experience with Windows 10 (aside from numerous issues with technical software that runs fine on Windows 7 and 8)

It is EXTREMELY SLOW- All attempts to remedy this failed. More RAM... SSD, nothing helped. In the end I installed Ubuntu 16.04 and ran that for a few months and then I was fortunate enough to get a request in for a Macbook Pro and that was approved.

Previous experiences at other companies was even worse. In those cases I ran a dual boot scenario... did the necessary Windoze stuff in Windows 7 Pro, did everything else in Ubuntu.

I like tinkering with with O/S but I've had comparatively few issues to fix since moving to Win10. Granted, all have been fresh installs and not upgrades.

What I do despise is that MS progressively hides things like Control Panel and Services deeper under their "modern interface" as the various upgrades roll out.

Ive got mixed feeling about win 10, from the one hand its better to upgrade to a latest version
then stay with something that could potentially be hacked.

but from the other hand so many things are broken in win 7 that is insane,

dont get me started on 8/8.1,

maybe the Linux guys do have a point,
and android is the herald of everybody ditching M$ and going full linux?

I mean mint (cinnamon), almost out the box works like win 7, drivers work properly,
videos play/firefox works all out the box, like one would expect win 7 to behave.

and with more and more steam games working on linux with almost no configuration.
maybe the time come for us to ditch M$ with all its updates and crashes, and files being deleted.

BKACs the lot of them

I wish I was allowed to use Ubuntu at work, they are in MS pockets so they won't budge. They only recently started allowing Mac.

I'm another idiot user who hasn't had many issues with W10.

The latest 1809 did slow down an old headless i5 BriX running a VM in Hyper-V. A bit of tinkering traced that to the virtual switch. A few clicks to delete & recreate and issue resolved.

Other than that, not a single problem with Win10 Pro on any of my machines. Been running W10 since release.

I find it faster, snappier, cleaner and lighter than previous versions.

Did a new installation for a client on the weekend, Windows 10 Home.
Email works with Thunderbird, but refuses to work with Windows Mail or Microsoft Outlook.
Had to completely reformat again to fix it.
I've been saying all along that Windows 10 is a POS.
