Windows 10 isn't an operating system, it's an advertising platform

It's true that advertising in the OS is BS and shouldn't be happening. But I can't help but notice that I have zero advertising on my machine running Win10 with a bare minimum of effort put in to stopping snooping and ads. Maybe it's worse for Home edition users.
 
Where would one typically see these ads?
I ask, because I haven't seen anything anywhere.
(That said, I don't use the windows app store at all.)

No, but I do. I have yet to pay for running Windows 10 on a machine, so I can tolerate the odd app suggestion in my start menu.

I know the author is intentionally being hyperbolic, but there seems to be little content besides the hyperbole. Windows 10 is a exponentially more than just an ad delivery system, it's a full fledged OS that does everything anyone needs from an OS. One that I've handed no cash over for, probably because Microsoft is funding it with the odd app suggestion/ad.

If you're that bothered by minimal ads, use Linux. But, then again, I'm guessing the author already does. I wonder if he uses any Google products which by his logic is not a search engine, web mail provider, etc. but and ad delivery system.

Sounds pretty good, right? Unfortunately, as we said earlier, Windows 10 LTSB is only available as part of Windows 10 Enterprise. And Windows 10 Enterprise is only available to an organization with a volume licensing agreement, or through a new $7 per month subscription program.

The subscription gives you access you download whatever you want and install it on your personal machine.
 
Ok, so I've been running WIndows 10 since it came out, and not once had a single advertisement on my screen ANYWHERE. :confused: Am I missing something?

On my old machine I don't remember having any ads, but that had limited resources and I'd turned off updates.

I recently Windows 7 to 10 on another machine and the closest I've seen to advertising is some app recommendations in my start menu.

In all honesty the author comes off as a bit hysterical. It's a massive over reaction.

I get them every now in then on the lock screen, link to install an app or game, total bs it's illicit advertising and even more irritating is its clickbait, it caught me the first time when I wasn't aware of what they were and then some stupid app store install page pops up.

I don't even see or notice any ads. on Win10, but a few small things in Win10 irritate me - ones I can think of right now are :

1.) When you want to connect to an alternative ISP, that stupid blue window with the cog in it pops up first, before it takes you to the list - what's that all about? ; some unnecessary distinguishing characteristic, to remind you you're on a 'fancy OS'?

2.) Data usage doesn't (always) reset to zero (sometimes it does ; seems the reason might be when I don't 'use the laptop it's on, for a few days?) like it always does on 7, or 8.1 from what I can remember.

Will always prefer Win7 over 10, and I find that Ubuntu MATE / Peppermint OS at the very least, on a par with Win7 (for trivial things) ; for work, Win7's the best .. won't be happy moving to Win10 when the PC 7 is on, packs up!
