I made a bogus Outlook account when I first installed Windows 8, because at that stage you still had to (was before 8.1). I don't use this account at all, but it's stayed there throughout the updates to Win 10. I can't recall the password and can't provide the info they need to reset it (considering it's a bogus account that I've never actually used).

Now Win 10 keeps pestering me to sign in again with the account and add extra security info etc.

I noticed there is an option to convert to a local account, but I can't do it without signing in again. Ideally I'd like to not use any kind of account with Windows, at all, but that doesn't seem to be an option.

What can I do?

cant you just go to "Edit local users and groups" - create an new user and use that profile instead?

Doesn't look like I can sign out of the bogus one without the password...

How did you sign into windows if you don't know the password?

I haven't been required to, so far. Strictly speaking I don't have to now, either.

Also had MS pestering me for additional security info. Created another bogus email account elsewhere and used this as my security info.
