For some time now I have my libraries (Documents, Music etc.) on a separate partition than program files.

I am now rapidly running out of space on my c: drive and there is nothing left to uninstall.

My next folder to move is %appdata% but this is probably very risky, instead I want to cut and paste certain subfolders in %appdata% to a different partition and then create links under %appdata% to the other partition for only the relevant folders.

Is this viable/advisable ?

I've done this on my laptop.
I have a 260GB SSD and then the 2nd hard drive contains all those files.

Thanks, I see mixed opinions and feedback regarding %appdata% though other libraries are safe. I started out with a large folder for a specific program and made use of mklink /D which seems to be fine.

(I see question regarding what is eating up space was deleted, but here goes:)

Is it programme files that are taking up so much space?

I thought so until I checked.

Partition is 127GB (a recovery partition follows the c: partition, if alternative partition is shrunk the freed space is not contiguous with c: partition so c: partition can't be enlarged AFAIK)

c: Program Files 8 GB
c: Program Files x86 - 26GB
c: Windows - 32GB
c: Program Data - 22GB (of which Skype 8GB)
%appdata% - Roaming 4.5GB
- Local 11GB (of which \Slack is 6GB)
Other folders combined: 20GB (not sure how system folders like '%appdata% are handled, but I selected everything including hidden files/folders and deselect above c: folders).

As said in OP, libraries are mapped to different partition already.

So Skype and Slack can be cleaned up a bit I suppose.
