Windows 10 Technical Preview - Insider Program

Honestly they should just throw a torrent online. There is going to be one anyway...

Well torrents are shaped pretty badly for some, and their azure servers can easily handle the load, so i'm not sure why they would opt for a torrent.

They could offer both... like some companies do.

Then again it is Microsoft...

Installed and running. Was stuck in a black screen for about 5mins. Was having 100% hard disk usage until I disabled Super Fetch.

If Windows 7 and Windows 8 were to merge it would be this. It is extremely quick.

Now to reinstall application

Hopefully that isnt because its pretty barebones...

On a side note have you ever played with server 2012r2 on an ssd :| my god is it fast.

I can already see that people are going to love this version. The early (and subsequent) Win8 was jarring and confusing. This isn't.

At least Modern Music app is actually usable now

But boy are they gonna hate Windows 11!

MSFT sorta hinted there won't necessarily be a Win11. This is a "fundamentally new platform". With Win10, the days of Major Releases every two or three years come to an end.

They'll find something to hate

1h45 mins to download. Just over an hour left. Reckon I should get it on my XPS 13 before bed time.
Dying to play :)

But you already know what you are getting, so why so excited? :)

It's Windows 7 with the whole Metro Start Page fitted into its Start Menu, and a few other tidbits from Windows 8.

I get excited for the same reason I get excited when Google releases a minor update of Android. Love this *****.

EDIT: I love Windows 8 and 8.1 too BTW. Very keen to see what Win 10 brings to the table.

Downloaded and installled Windows Technical Preview....didn't take me too long :D

So far so good, I am enjoying the preview. Avast seems to have gotten uninstalled, so I assume its not compatible with Windows Technical Preview. Like the new start menu....Is it possible to have both the full start screen and this start menu?? Would be cool to have both in place (I see I can only get one of these).

Hehe. I know it's not necessary to install Adobe Reader because there's a built-in Reader (Metro app). In Win8.1 I don't use the Microsoft Reader because it's a full-screen Metro app and I live in the Desktop. Because Metro apps are now windowable on the Desktop, Adobe Reader isn't necessary, Still, old habit took me to Adobe.com/Reader ... but IE doesn't show the Install now button. Also, the Abobe engine through IE detects Win10 Tech Preview as "Windows NT, English".

So I installed Chrome to see if this was an IE thing. An behold, Install now appears (yellow bar at bottom of 3rd panel).

Of course this is very early beta code and it's far too early to speak of a Conspiracy. Still, interesting.

Here's a screenshot with Chrome on the left and Win10 Beta's IE on the right:

I like the super-thin no-bezel frames on Win10's windows, btw. Kinda matches the same trend on flatscreen TVs.
