Since installing the update on two PC's have had the following problems:

1. Boot up time to desktop takes twice as long as before.
2. Random problems with Office 365 particularly Outlook crashing on first use.
3. Event viewer reporting that Office 365 is not licensed.(Randomly)
4. Very slow startup on any web browser on the first use. After first use they open OK. (Firefox, Edge or Internet Explorer)

Have run Defrag, CC Cleaner, checked for malware and viruses etc. Also run online repair of Office.

Googling this problem, seems that I am not the only one experiencing these hassles, but have yet to find a working solution.

Of the two PC's the one was updated on-line, and the other using a downloaded ISO file. Interestingly on the third PC in the house, which has not had the 1511 update done yet, none of the above problems occur. All three pc's were originally running windows 7 Pro and were upgraded to Windows 10 via the free upgrade offer.

Not impressed with Windows 10 since the upgrade!!

I did a clean install on my main PC and its fine. On the microservers I updated via the ISO, can't say I notice much difference since those things are dog slow already.

You might need to purge the Windows update cache folder if your updates get stuck. And disable receiving updates over the local network might help if a local pc has the same problem.

There are hundreds of us with the point 1 problem ... usually gets fixed by not hiding the taskbar. If it's already shown, hide it ...restart .... 'unhide' ... restart again.

That quick-fix worked great for me until I updated from build 10586.17 to the latest 10586.29 .... now it's randomly fast/slow :( Luckily I sleep my PC 90% of the time instead of doing a complete shutdown.

Weird, I've updated my entire office, 20 or so laptops, to 1511 and so far resolved most of the issues. The big culprits are still 3rd party drivers that are not yet available on older laptops. Asus has been the champs though with great win 10 support. HP depends on the machine and Samsung are not seeing another cent from me again.

Your upgraded computers are registered on the Microsoft servers. Now you can go back to Windows 7. Give them 4 years to fix this Windows. When you need to install Windows 10, it will be activated automatically.

Just tried this option, was in fact one of the "fixes" I saw on Google.
On first look does seem to have improved slightly, but will give a few days before yelling hurray!

All three PC's are on a home network, and on all the PC's did the original Win 10 upgrade from a downloaded ISO to save on internet usage.
The update was also done on the two PC's from an ISO file of update 1511 which is why I am nervous of doing a clean install using that ISO.

Computek - Also running build 10586.29 updated 8th December.

I don't have the other issues, but I have this one on my work PC (and not on any others). Opera, Chome, FF all take forever to load web pages first time. After that they're fine.

Well it seems they've lost mine as the update does not recognize my product key and refuses to install.

Well the hide/unhide taskbar option seems to be working so far after several reboots, going to try it on the
No 2 PC that is also giving problems after the upgrade.

This is as you are trying to activate by product key. Try this, activate by digital certificate. Save GenuineTicket.xml somewhere just in case.
How to upgrade from W7/8.1 without to go through the upgrade process itself with ease

1. Validate your w7 SP1 (W8.1) online, best using IE.

2. Generate a genuine ticket of your installation by:

2.1 Copy gatherosstate.exe from your downloaded Windows 10 10240 ISO to your installation which should be upgraded.

2.2 Run it on your activated and validated Windows. It'll output GenuineTicket.xml. Save this on a USB thumb drive or something.

2.3 Then do a fresh install with your suitable w10 ISO, skip to enter key at setup procedure.

2.4 Once it's installed make sure your internet connection is DISABLED/do not enable the internet connection! Reboot w10.

2.5. Copy GenuineTicket.xml to C:\programdata\microsoft\windows\clipsvc\genuineti cket\ of your w10 installation and reboot again.

2.6. Connect online, it should activate.

Thanks, I'll try this. I didn't get the option to skip entering the product key when I tried previously.

Report back - So far the hide/unhide taskbar option seems to be working on both No1 and No2 PC's Have been experiencing slow loading of webpages today, but that seems to be a Telkom problem (As usual!)
Thanks Computek for this solution won't be taking a blunt instrument to the PC soon!!
