Windows 10 users warned to uninstall Flash as soon as possible

Windows 10 has begun pushing notifications to users' desktops that warn them to uninstall Adobe Flash Player as soon as possible.

According to a report by GHacks, if you have a recent version of Flash Player installed on your machine, you will be presented with a message stating that support has officially ended for the product and that it should be removed from your system.

Jirre, I still remember having to deal with the absolute ballache of having to generate massive CSV files (for FATCA/CRS) where there's referential integrity etc. between the line items, then uploading that crap to their FTP site, waiting for the error file to come back that shows you hundreds and hundreds of errors because one line item somewhere had an invalid value...

Never again.
And never have they heard about JSON or XML apparently.
In fact, thinking about this now, that was one of the main reasons I left that job.

A lot of their return types now use HTML5, but there are still some return types using Flash. It does look like their dev team is getting through it slowly but surely.
 
I tried to install the Opera browser yesterday. It got hung up trying to download Flash from Adobe.com
 
I saw the popup a few times on my Win10 machine, but ignored it as I had other priorities. Now I see that I don't get the warning anymore, uninstalled itself?

I have Windows 8.1, & Microsoft updates have not yet provided for uninstalling Flash Player. You have to download the standalone update/uninstall tool for your particular version of Windows 8.1 (or 10) from this Microsoft webpage: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/search.aspx?q=4577586 I downloaded the standalone update and ran it. It removed Flash Player from Windows control panel, and from Internet Explorer 11. Unfortunately Internet Explorer 11 is embedded with Windows 8.1 and can not be deleted.

I tried out my Flash free computer on SARS eFiling website. Using Firefox (current version) browser, I was able to log into SARS eFiling, generate my current Tax Return that is due this month, start filling in details on the return, save the partially completed return on the eFiling website, and download and print the partially completed return. So far no problems at all.
 
Does Chrome still have flash player built-in? Last time I needed Flash I just used that.

Most browsers do not have Flash Player built in. With Chrome, in the past I could temporarily enable Flash Player by clicking the security lock in the address bar, and enabling Flash Player. I don't know if this is possible now.

The problem is more on the business side of things, e.g. VAT returns and EMP201's.
 
Sars Efiling website not working in most places. You have had how many years to get his sorted, really.
 
Most main efiling functions have migrated away but there are still a few more obscure remnants like maintaining registered details requiring flash.

Of course the new returns pages were clearly designed for phones so you literally have to narrow your browser window for the blocks to line up properly.....
 
FFS I just now saw the fine print that flash will literally stop functioning from today on.

Will installing flash in a VM with a previous date actually work?

EDIT: setting the PC date back to before the 12th makes it work, VM is the future for now.
