Windows 10 will get Android, iOS, Mac apps

Disappointing to see so many online sites/blogs get it wrong and parade their ignorance. People are thinking the Google GMS stuff will work as is on Win Mobile. It won't. GMS is proprietary and closed. APK stuff is easily moved.

It's completely different to having an emulator. *sigh*

I was referring to the idea of running android apps on windows. It's a case of having an emulator running original code vs. converting code to run natively . The end result is the same thing, except the devs would now need to actually convert their code or a better term is probably "port" their apps vs. the original apps running in an emulator.

So while it surely can work, it doesn't mean app developers are going to do it. MS is only doing this because of the lack of apps they have in their store vs. Android/iOS app stores aka "app gap".

While the company has been investigating emulating Android apps, it has settled on a different solution, or set of solutions, that will allow developers to bring their existing code to Windows 10. iOS and Android developers will be able to port their apps and games directly to Windows universal apps, and Microsoft is enabling this with two new software development kits. On the Android side, Microsoft is enabling developers to use Java and C++ code on Windows 10, and for iOS developers they'll be able to take advantage of their existing Objective C code. 'We want to enable developers to leverage their current code and current skills to start building those Windows applications in the Store, and to be able to extend those applications,' explained Microsoft's Terry Myerson during an interview with The Verge this morning.

You can't just run the Android app on the Windows phone, things like the App store just won't work.

It needs to be recompiled, and some things changed but it's a quick process.

It will never work but you can load the Amazon app store and be sorted like on BBOS 10.

Wrong. Windows will not run android apps, and it will not have any android app stores.

Developers can take their existing android source code, modify it slightly for windows phone, and compile their source code into a Windows app.

Wrong -->
Windows Phones will include an Android subsystem that'll run pure android apps, plus Windows extensions.
http://live.arstechnica.com/microsoft-build-2015-keynote/ or http://www.neowin.net/news/android-apps-and-windows-the-relationship-takes-a-step-forward (leaked a month before build) Nontheless it's a bad move.

Wrong. I watched the keynote: Android source code will have to recompiled to run on windows.
Sorry saw it now. Strange the tech sites got it wrong. http://www.windowscentral.com/microsoft-going-all-out-courting-ios-android-developers
Microsoft is making it so that Android developers can reuse their existing Java and C++ code to create a Windows 10 Universal App. The result will be a Windows app that behaves like a Windows app.
Anyhow I'm off to play with Windows 10 10074 build.

Everybody is talking about Android and iOS apps coming to Windows while they're forgetting Window's apps are going onto HoloLens 8-)
