Windows 10

Far too expensive. GBP7 or R134 on Amazon in the UK.

Thats probably click bait - unlikely that you are going to get a LEGAL Windows 10 Pro package for R134...

Even ESD delivery of a Win 10 Pro license through SA official channel is more than R3000 per single license.

I must add- this OS is MS's biggest bloatware ever. Way slower than Win 7.

Do you know how Amazon works or what click bait is?
BTW Microsoft allows these keys to be activated. As far as I'm concerned they are legal. Have yet to have a Windows or Office fail activation.

And thus we're each entitled to our own opinion. 10 has been nothing but a breeze for me, especially on a NVMe SSD. At times I find it more stable while playing games as well.

You REALLY feel the difference on older machines.... and EVERYTHING is fast on an NVME...

If it's such a major pain, why not set aside R500, get a 120GB ssd? It's much better than taking 2minutes to boot and another 2minutes to see desktop icons.

I just spoiled myself with an NVMe, a standard SSD makes the world of a difference compared to a HDD anyway.

5min to boot is only a pain to people that are in WAY too much of a hurry.

Also having an SSD as a minimum system requirement is stupid. Fact is win10 is bloated, you can't get around that.

It's not a requirement, but upgrading your "OLD" system to a newer OS (yes I know it's forced due to Win7 reaching EOL support), and expecting the same results? That's stupid. Hardware ages, drives fail, technology advances. The cheapest and quickest way to regain speed, SSD, no?

Edit: 5minutes to boot shouldn't be a thing at all, whether you're in a hurry, or have time to sip a coffee for 30minutes while waiting for Windows to boot. Not only does your OS load slowly, applications inside also take their time to open. So why not simplify life and get an SSD? Personally, haven't had a single client complain about their R500 investment and not having to sit and wait for a startup.

And what if people can't afford it? Or their PC's don't meet the other minimum requirements? You want someone to buy a whole new PC even though the old one still functions just because Win7 is EOL? Is that not a waste of money in many cases?

There are still many PC's running P4 CPU's and nothing is wrong with them.

Never worked for a small business boss have ya?

If they can't afford it, should they really worry about their Win7 PC's not having support anymore? There's a difference between replace a WHOLE new PC and just installing a SSD. It's much easier to justify a mere R500 because your hardware can't keep up with new technology, than splashing R6000-R10000 on a new PC because you're butthurt that MS ended your OS support and "forcing" you to upgrade to Win10.

I have, I still do. Hence I'm saying, a SSD is the easiest to sell to someone if speed is an issue. No one wants to hear "your PC is too old, here is a R10 000 quote to replace it", especially if it's not their fault and because a company called Microsoft decided to end support for the OS they were used for the past 10 years.

My point is there are many PC's that have nothing wrong with them that can't even run win10 nvm run it fast because the CPU's are not supported..... simply putting in a SSD wont always help.

In that case, enjoy the coffee. :p
