It seems to be taking a heck of a long time to upgrade to windows 10, I still find win 8.1 a load of crap

What will be the most cost effective antivirus to use, ?
I am currently on Bitdefender and must say I am not entirely happy with it, For no reason I get a message the product has expired and yet on my account I had over 300 days.
Well after a long online chat it was not corrected, so I just re installed and then the problem was solved, what a bummer

I have this icon at the bottom of my taskbar and when I click a box comes up and say's OK lets continue but that's it nothing further..

Common sense is by far the most cost effective.

I don't use an anti virus on mine. Windows Defender does a great job.

As for the icon in the tray? someone here posted a method to force the update, back then I used to spam the update button after I restart every now and then.

Thank's for the reply..
DIY http://pastebin.com/ynAtgSVg after that use https://rufus.akeo.ie/ to write the ISO to usb and start the setup.exe. You can even do an clean install without the need to upgrade -->
1. Validate your w7 SP1 (W8.1) online, best using IE.

2. Generate a genuine ticket of your installation by:

2.1 Copy gatherosstate.exe from your downloaded Windows 10 10240 ISO to your installation which should be upgraded.

2.2 Run it on your activated and validated Windows. It'll output GenuineTicket.xml. Save this on a USB thumb drive or something.

2.3 Then do a fresh install with your suitable w10 ISO, skip to enter key at setup procedure.

2.4 Once it's installed make sure your internet connection is DISABLED/do not enable the internet connection! Reboot w10.

2.5. Copy GenuineTicket.xml to C:\programdata\microsoft\windows\clipsvc\genuineti cket\ of your w10 installation and reboot again.

2.6. Connect online, it should activate.

As for the AV, Windows 10 comes with Security essentials - rebranded as Windows Defender - by default. It's good enough really.
