New tool lets unsupported PCs install Windows 11

A new tool that lets users bypass Windows 11 system requirements and install preview versions of the operating system on unsupported devices has surfaced online.

The MediaCreationTool wrapper, the work of GitHub developer AveYo, lets you create a special ISO for updating from any version of Windows 10 to Windows 11.

Gonna test on a laptop w/ i3 4010U, and then on a desktop w/ an i7 3770. Will update if it works or not.

Edit: I selected to create a bootable USB with Win 11. The setup window says Win10.

It is indeed installing 11 on my i3 4010U, no TPM, No Secure boot (I think) There was some warning that the hardware is inferior and no support, yadda yadda. We will proceed.

And those who use the tool at some stage to install Windows will complain that they aren't receiving updates or some update bricked their PC and be very vocal about it. I think this is a terrible precedent for MS and could've been handled differently. Microsoft most likely will end up with a bunch of "unsupported" Windows 11 desktops probably co-opted into some large botnet they'll eventually then have to address anyway.

ZorinOS 16 works like a bomb on my 'Windows-11-unsupported' PC.

What's the point? Some games running on Windows 11 are already requiring TPM for anti-cheat purposes. Not too clued up but this might extend to streaming services and other DRM content, no?

Not a stretch of the imagination that a TPM could be used to link a license to a PC.

Installed months ago on my 10 years old Dell E6420 Laptop, loads faster, Internet faster, gets updates no problem. What's not to like? I'm also using Office 2021 (not Office 365) All my Drivers were updated as well. I didn't use the ISO as mentioned in this article, as there are others available.

I tried my 3770 with the USB i created, but it seems you need to run that batch file before the time to fool the installation into thinking all the hardware checks are in place. After that you can use a thumb drive as installation.
