"Windows Update Restored" website allows updating your old Windows 95, Windows 98 PCs - Neowin​

If you happen to be running an old PC somewhere that has Windows 95 or Windows 98 or XP, and you wished you had a way to install some newer updates on those systems, a new community-based project dubbed "Windows Update Restored" will allow you to do so.

The image below shows the compatibility of the various Windows Update website versions. Currently, Windows Update v3.1(, ie, Windows 95, 98, NT 4.0, and Windows ME,) is the only one working.

It is probably not a bad guess to say that at least some Windows enthusiasts own some retro PC that still has Windows 95 or similar in it. If you wanted to update it, this website may help.

Microsoft: Windows 11 21H2 reaching end of service in October - Bleeping Computer​

Microsoft warned customers today that multiple editions of Windows 11, version 21H2, will reach the end-of-service (EOS) in three months, on October 10, 2023.

This applies to Windows 11 21H2 editions released in October 2021: Home, Pro, Pro Education, and Pro for Workstations.

"These editions will no longer receive security updates after October 10, 2023," Microsoft announced Monday.

"Customers who contact Microsoft Support after this date will be directed to update their device to the latest version of Windows 11 to remain supported."

After the end-of-service date, Windows 10 21H2 devices running the above Home and Pro editions will no longer receive security and monthly quality updates with fixes and patches for newly discovered bugs and security issues.

Multiple editions of Windows 10 21H2 (the Windows November 10 2021 Update) also reached EOS earlier this month.

Microsoft also provides users with a list of all products that will reach the end of their support or be retired in the coming months.

Customers can refer to the Windows Lifecycle FAQ and the Lifecycle Policy search tool for further information regarding the specific end-of-service dates for Windows.

Hi Guys
Running Windows 11 on an unsupported machine, tried to update on Sunday but the updates stalled
Anyone else having the same issues?

How's gaming performance on unsupported machines now? Initially when Windows 11 first came out, I installed and tested it, but since the AMD 1800x series processors are not officially supported by Windows 11, I went back to 10. Gaming performance was definitely an issue back then, but it's been a while so they must have fixed the issue, I guess
