Howzit guys,

Recently got my new pc. Specs are in my sig. My win7 enterprise is orginial build 7600. I got 64bit drivers for everything, but I get random reboots. I have an idea its my windows cause it. I'll be playing Warcraft 3 and all of a sudden it reboots. Then I can play Mirrors Edge for hours on end and no reboot.

If I install off ISO's or stream videos on Youtube, then my PC reboots. No blue screen, just reboot.

Any ideas. I check event viewer, not giving any useful info, just says that the system restarted due to critical error.

What PSU do you have? A generic or an unsuitible power supply wont work properly and will cause random reboots. You will probably need atleast a 600W brand name power supply for your system.

Maybe try and restart the PC with "Bootlogging" and check what is happening in the log.
I think there is also another util that would intercept critical errors. Also switch off function "Reboot on error" Then maybe when you get BSOD the codes can tell you what's up.
I had the same a while ago and it worked out to be my ATI GPU or ATI drivers under 3D that caused the reboot. This happened after the PC was Ok for a long period since windows7 install. I changed cards and never had the failure again.

Do not just blame the OS, check the hardware and update all drivers. :)

i have almost the same specs pc that i bought from pc zone.they told as soon as i bought it that i would need a better psu, i had a few reboots while saving for another psu.now i only get reboots after a day of downloading and war3 coz war3 uses ram you need to do reboots every 8 -12 hours to prevent critical errors caused by war3.hope that help.:)

Why? What does war3 do to the ram? Ram to small as buffer?

im not sure of the technical details and my international is capped so i cant google it, but i have been playing war3 for +-8years on pentium 4's and so on it always crashed after about 8-12 hours of lanning.these varsity lan computers all identical with the same os .so it is safe to say that it has nothing to do with windows 7.

Howzit guys,

hanks for replies. I never brought the PC from PC Zone. I got all parts from Rectron. PSU I got from Sybaretic. I got a Corsair 750w 80+ Rating. It's 60a on the 12+ rail. So don't think power is a problem. Forgot to list PSU in my sig. I'm installing lastest GeForce drivers now. Will see what happens.

Installed latest GXF drivers, and problem still continued. So I began googling. Must of spent 2 hours reading through different threads, loads and loads of people with the same problem, but no one with an answer. Guys gave all different solutions which didn't really seem to relate to a kernel-power problem.

Eventually I found a couple of there's saying it's RAM related, so I continued to read on. There were talking about the voltage supplied to the RAM. Said if you running high frequency RAM such a DDR-1333 (like I'm running) then the RAM can draw more power then is supplied, especially when there are applications taking up large amounts of RAM. One guy said he upped his voltage to his RAM by 1 notch. So I tried that. On my M/B default is 1.5v so I upped it to 1.6v.

I haven't had a reboot yet. I'm hoping this has fixed the problem.

For one the OP has a corsair 750W PSU, doubt very much that is the root of the problem. Run a mem tester to check for memmory errors, also run a CPU heat monitor, If the CPU is getting to hot (bad heatsink placement or thermal paste spreading) then it is likely to freeze or reboot.

As for the ram voltages, you just need to check what the spec is for your ram that is installed. My 1066 needs to be pumped up a bit to run smoothly. Not sure on what you i5's 1333's need (check on transcends website)

To the OP, I'd like to compare my PC performance with yours - try run 3DMark Vantage (yeah I know its for Vista) Let me know what settings you run at...
