Installed Windows 7 RC (7100), but when going to www.xbox.com/pcsetup, I get the following error:

This computer is currently running a newer version of Media Center. The computer must be running Update Rollup 2 for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 or Windows Vista in order for the Xbox 360 console to connect.

I tried manually adding the extender through Media Centre by adding the 8 digit code, but it does not pick up the XBox. My Xbox is connected to Live, on same IP range as PC, thus have proper network connection. WMP12 also does not pick it up.

Any ideas?

is media sharing enabled on the pc?

and can you see the pc when you go to My Video/Music on the xbox (at the screen where you select the media source)?

and is there a particular reason why you want to use the MCX instead of the dashboard for playing your media?

I dont see the PC in My Videos / Music either...else I would just prefer that way instead of MC. And Media Sharing is enabled yes.
I guess I'll just copy stuff onto the old external drive for now...

have you disabled your firewall on the pc?

Firewall disabled yes...
Should a person technically be able to ping the IP the xbox is on?

My Win7 and xbox360 MCX is working just fine... when my wireless isn't playing silly buggers that is.

Running Win7 and Xbox extender without problem. Both PC and Xbox have static IP's.
