Windows 7 continues to survive

The market share of Microsoft's Windows 7 operating system surprisingly increased last month despite Microsoft ending support for the old operating system on 14 January 2020.

My installation is taking longer to load than before... If I wasn't connected to the internet I wouldn't have moved to Win10.

Get the Pro version and just turn updates off.
I have the Pro version. Even the shut down command just locks windows. PC stays on. Then you have to login again and shut down again. If It had Covid or any other Infectious disease I could begin to understand. But Due to no rain connection and no USB drives I am pritty sure I have no little pest lurking around except Mircosoft themselfes.

I work for two huge local IT/Telecoms companies and 90% of the machines are still running Windows 7.

The moment I was given the option, I asked for an upgrade on both my company laptop and office PC. My personal laptop came out with Windows 10 and adjusting between the two OS's when I'm at home or in the office got too annoying.

You'll find a lot of the older employees are too stuck in their ways to change/upgrade.

Strange never had any big issues with Windows 10. Only two I recall was the copy/paste bug and hibernation turning the PC on at 3 in the morning. Have since moved to a Raspberry Pi anyway since most of my apps work now even got Joplin working yesterday.

Unlike earlier commenters, I do actually enjoy Windows 10 far more than 7. But I also have Linux running on many devices and servers that they'll never know about because those scenarios are not factored into their survey. It gives Joe Public (including key decision-makers) the false impression that Linux is exceedingly rare.

Still have a laptop on XP, works just fine.
I would rather use Linux than XP.
I'm fine with Windows 10, but I've made an active decision to Linuxify all older systems that can't handle Windows 10.

I have a laptop running Windows XP super strong, no issues, it just goes ape crazy if I log on to the internet with it though, all free antivirus programs lose their schit with me with it.
my gaming rig is Win10 and what a beautiful setup, the OS is rock solid with zero issues.

I just love how on Win 10 you just let the Bill and the boys set up your drivers. Ironically, it seems to me like it's the newer laptops that give people issues with Win 10 updates. My late 2000s machines have loved Win 10.

Recently upgraded to Win10Pro permanently as Win7Pro was confukulated ... (was dual-booting OS's on 2 separate drives, but using mostly Win7)

*looks longingly at all my favourite games (and there are many!) which are now practically useless*

Why are they useless? Only had issues with my DOS games until I figured out DOSBox.
