Error 711 refers to dial up connections if I recall correctly.:p

What type of internet connection do you have?

Why not try and create a new connection (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Center) and see if that helps.

Here's the XP version:

To resolve this issue, enable the disabled services, and then start the services:

1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Manage.
2. Double-click Services and Applications, and then double-click Services.
3. Right-click Telephony, and then click Properties.
4. On the General tab, click Manual next to Startup type.
5. On the General tab, click Start under Service status, and then click OK.
6. Repeat steps 3 - 5 for the Remote Access Connection Manager service and for the Remote Access Auto Connection Manager service.

no partition magic , cant enable those services aswell , tried tried tried sigh :<
and no , recreating connection wont help as the manager isnt enabled , so no internet connection will go through unless enabled . if i enable it i get an error 1608 ... so im searching .....

ima do a scan with spybot see if anything there is cooking.... im using my mobile to search for solutions ^^, what would you do without todays tech...

and its a adsl line :) i would run myself over if i had 56k HAHa
thnx for the replies so far :)

NOTE: did spyware scan , found 2 . but they werent potential threats . still does the same thing

yeah did system restore , using windows 7 ultimate 32 bit. no changes were made. didnt help

I see many reports indicate a firewall, including the windows firewall as the problem?

You could always create a new user and see if you can connect from there?

Romark , i dont use windows firewall or windows defender...both disabled because both fail... and they have nothing to do with the services (RACM, RCM, telephony, plug and play etc etc)

i just play cod4 , left for dead , and other steam games . and i have spybot s&d incase i go onto the net. for the odd google or so. which is rarely. anyway , after work i will get my win 7 disk back and see if that wil help and report lol . cheers ... hmmm why did my previous message only appear at 10:51 last night LOL :p

.... formatted . none of the solutions MS or other users gave helped.
also MS's wonderful system restore did absolutely %^&* , all it did was delete winamp. and upon restoring to another point , reinstalled winamp. :wtf:

moral of the story : dont ever scratch your win7 dvd . its your respawn point :D

now to install 40gigs of game ... 1 game down , 4 to go.

and lol @ nokkie , you are right , compare win98 to xp and win 7.... a few changes to the control panel and some gui changes and ofcourse direct X and add some other useless features that 3rd party providers do better. running win xp in classic mode it looks like win98 spot on. errors included . each OS sold separately

Draconia2, you honestly don't know what you are talking about... Windows 98 != XP... If you aren't happy with 7, why didn't you test it before you bought it? How do you just leave your hardware(hard drives on chairs) and software(scracthed OS discs) lying around? Then you wonder why something happens to go wrong.

DJngoma , what are you smoking? did it occur to you that the dvd might be in a original case ? if its bought surely it should be . all my games are in cases , in rows and rows of dvd racks. and as for the hdd , it was in an external . sheesh , and thats unusual , a service wont fail to load because you forgot the dvd at your friends house . lol this is like only the 2nd issue i had since win 7 rc . nothings perfect .

the moral of the story was to never scratch your disk noob.

ps: if you want to look for trouble . do it properly
