Windows 7 Gadgets Not Showing Correctly

Now I am starting to go crazy over this problem, I have Googled a few "fixes" but none have worked so far. Strangely enough this problem is only affecting two specific gadgets that I have always used. They are the All CPU Meter and Network Meter. If I run one of the default pre-installed Windows 7 gadgets it works fine. But these ones that I want to use don't work. I switched my Pc on one Morning and was greeted with this strange problem.

I have emailed the creator but I don't expect to get a response.

Can anyone come up with a way to fix this? I have tried so many different "fixes" and none have worked thus far. I recently tried the following which didn't help: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/140358-gadgets-not-displaying-correctly-windows-7-fix.html

I've also tried this: http://social.technet.microsoft.com.../thread/a429da8e-6e39-4e0c-ba5b-921441237079/

My system restore is disabled so I can not restore my Pc to an earlier time.

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Hmmmm....

Have you tried either of these methods yet ??

This behavior is observed if the XML registration is missing in the system. To fix the problem, use the following steps:
Close Windows Sidebar . To do so, right-click on the Sidebar icon in the Notification area and click Exit (GK: in case of Windows 7 - press WinKey+R > type taskmgr and press enter > Proccesses tab > select sidebar.exe > click End Process button)
Open an elevated Command Prompt window. To do so, click Start , click All Programs , click Accessories , right-click Command Prompt , and then click Run as administrator .
In the Command Prompt window, type the following and press ENTER:
regsvr32 msxml3.dll

Similarly, run these commands:
regsvr32 scrrun.dll
regsvr32 jscript.dll

If the registration was successful, you'll see the message DllRegisterServer in <filename> succeeded for each command executed. Open Windows Sidebar (sidebar.exe ) and check if the problem is resolved.

or

Start > Run > Regedit

HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionInternet SettingsZones
See carefully, is there any sub-key between Zones and sub-key 0. If so, delete it.
Restart your computer and verify how your Gadgets are being displayed successfully.

Zone. (Sub-key “ . “ under Zone) Registry key deleting
Stop the sidebar.exe process.

Delete this key: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionInternet SettingsZones.
Restart sidebar process

I can't find the original link... but here is a similar one ... http://www.worthytricks.com/2011/02/gadgets-not-displaying-in-windows-7.html

I've tried both, they don't fix anything :(

Hmmmm... if you login as a different user or create another profile and login with that does the problem persist in this new user account ?

Just tried this now, same problem :( Going to sleep now, please keep the ideas coming, else It looks like another format is in order :(

Okay... and if you close all gadgets, show all system and hidden files and find and delete the following folder;

C:\Users\[User profile name]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar

Only delete the Windows Sidebar folder...

You will need to download and install your gadgets again.

Log off and then back on.... gadgets back ok ?

Or.... reset defaults..

Goto Control Panel
Click Internet Options -> Properties -> Programs -> Set Programs -> Set Programs Access and Computer Defaults
Select Microsoft Windows
Click 'OK'
Logoff
Logon

Test gadgets again.

Interestingly, I have relied on the much more graphically-attractive Windows Gadget, Bandwidth Meter, for some time -- it looks great as it shows only what I need: download and upload speeds.

But I have never been able to get it to 'stick' as a functioning meter -- it only reads when you launch it, for that session. Next time you connect, or reboot, it simply sits inert on the desktop until you launch it afresh from the Windows Gadgets window. Bit of a pain -- anyone know a solution?
