Any of you any issues with booting and installing from the DVD itself?

When I got the Beta a few months back, it also wouldn't boot from the DVD directly and I installed from Windows (doesn't format AFAIK and creats a Windows.old - both which bug me as it doesn't seem 'clean'!) I assumed something with the copy or Beta.

I've now just bought a new retail version and same thing : from the DVD itself it gets into the install screen and nothing pops up :/

Am I alone?

Is your pc on the supported systems list?

MS does have a compatibility tool you can run

Also try disabling your floppy drive(s) from your bios (even if you don't have any installed). I had the same issue where it was stuck on some wallpaper like screen without popping anything up for around 5 to 10 minutes.

Oh too late :(

I've already installed the way I didn't want to - thanks for the replies ... I got exactly what you two got. I wasn't as patient though :/

I have another PC. What would happen if I installed this same copy on there ?

Simon says:

It would either not activate, or it would activate and the previous install would be flagged as non-genuine.

Where by 'Simon' I mean 'Google'...
