Windows 7 may be slightly cheaper than Vista

I would like to know if we get the special family pack as mentioned by chris. I would definitely buy that version since I have 3 pc's at home. But either way I will be buying it, been using the beta and rc for a long time and cant go back to Vista...

What does that actually mean? Richer scenarios? For MS, maybe. All I see is a drain on my wallet.
 
How about some upgrade info?

Anybody have any idea what the upgrade options are for us here in the arse in of africa. I just got my new laptop today and I'll be a more than just a little miffed if I have to pay 2 grand for win7 when the rest of the world gets it for R500:mad:. If that happens i'm making a bee line for the torrent servers...

Edit: Just went to the manufacturors website. Seems like i may be able to get it for free!!

I don't why I would buy it, but if I find some reason to get it, (like, for example, if it causes gold to spew out of my USB ports or something) I would probably pirate it. Otherwise I'll stick with Linux.

Will wait and see what the price is for the OEM versions. I will probably buy at least one copy. The other computers I will keep on my legal XP copies or switch to Ubuntu or even Mac OS :D

Kids wanna play games though, so I have to keep some Windows around :(

That's what you should be getting a console for. I've switched to Ubuntu for email, internet browsing, document editing and a media server; and I use a console for gaming and media playing.

hmm, ja, that's not a bad idea... except that for the price of three console games I can buy a copy of Windows 7... so that kind of defeats the purpose.

This is not a rumour anymore. I recently bought an HP notebook for my dad, and that qualified for the free upgrade.

I do have a problem with this article though. Why did the "Staff Reporter" not asked Microsoft South Africa, why we do not qualify for the discount offered to the USA, Canada and Japan. They can buy the Home Premium upgrade for US$50. That is round about R425. The professional edition is US$99. (I see that that offer expires tomorrow.) Why do we as a 3rd world country have to pay the inflated prices?

I would really consider buying it, if it is reasonable. Otherwise I will change to some linux distribution and boot into XP if I want to play a game, or use a virtual machine with XP for thos few program that you still use for which you did not found a linux replacement yet.

I did see that the UK and Europe will have a special offer starting the 15th. What about SA? Can you perhaps follow up on this?

Microsoft would not be what it is today were it not for piracy!

I for one wish they would go back to the good old days.... sigh.... :rolleyes:
 
Suport OS and let Microsoft Sink. To hell with them and there dictating. They want to stop XP support as from Jan 2010, and force you into buying another product never to be completed with all its mistakes.
